"Letters Patent to Charles Spratt of Elizabeth Villas, Coplestone Road, Peckham in the County of Surrey...The object of my Invention is to connect a central or district fire station with a number of outlying posts, in such manner that from any post the fire call may be sent to the central station; and so also that the fire men first arriving at the post may be able to telegraph to the station for assistance if such should be required..."
