1871 Commitment for Penalty, Joseph Allen, Alstonefield, horse straying highway

"To the Constables of the Constabulary Force of the County of Stafford, and to the Keeper of the House of Correction at Stafford....Whereas Joseph Allen of Alstonefield, in the County of Stafford, carrier, was on the twenty first day of December one thousand eight hundred and seventy duly convicted...certain animals, to wit, a mare and foal, were found straying on a certain highway there situate...and that the said Joseph Allen was the owner thereof...for his said offence should foreit and pay the sum of ten shillings, being five shillings in respect of each animal...should pay to Charles Phillips the Prosecutor in the case, the sum of eleven shillings and six pence for his costs...should not be paid forthwith the said Joseph Allen should be imprisoned in the House of Correction for fourteen days unless the said several sums and the costs...".  Has one signature.  Has been folded.  It has a note on the reverse that it was paid on the 16 March.
