Seller's Description

This is a heavy duty 10 Amp 1000 Volt rectifier diode suitable for use in high power Valve Amplifier rectifiers and as a blocking diode for large Solar Panels. Rated at 10A maximum average current at an ambient temperature of 60C.
Marshall style gold knob

Your amp runs cooler!

When used in guitar or hi-fi valve amplifiers this diode will provide a robust and long lasting low power consumption alternative to Valve rectifiers and can be soldered directly across the appropriate pins on the valve rectifier socket (two diodes required to replace a typical double diode valve rectifier, four required for a full bridge rectifier with transformers with secondaries with no grounded centre tap). Use of solid state diodes will reduce the load on your power transfomer by as much as 20 Watts compared with a heater current thirsty and inefficient valve rectifier!

It may also be advantageous to solder a suitably rated 0.01uF capacitor across each diode as the very fast switching of solid state diodes can otherwise cause spikes on the B+ HT rail.

A 10A diode may seem like overkill when you consider that even large valve amps only draw around 150mA on their HT rails, but these big chunky components look "vintage" and don't look out of place in your amp chassis.... and have got to be one of the cheapest upgrades for improved power and reliability you can fit to an amplifier.

More Power out!

Note that if you do replace a valve rectifier with solid state diodes you will probably end up with between 10V and about 40V more on your HT supply compared with before... which should give more output power and headroom but may require rebiasing your output valves. Do give some thought to other component voltage ratings... 400V capacitors can be easily changed for 630V capacitors for peace of mind!

Sag Resistor for Guitar Amps

If you want to change to diodes and improve reliability without losing the characteristic soft sound a valve rectifier contributes towards a guitar amp when you overdrive it, you can fit a high power wirewound resistor (from 100 Ohms to 330 Ohms at 20W) in series with the diode rectifier output before the first main smoothing capacitor, at the expense of burning some of that saved power as heat instead of sound!

Supplied individually.

If you are ordering from more than one of our listings, note that we can offer you reduced combined shipping ONLY if you use "Buy it now" on all items then request a total from seller BEFORE making payment. We will then send you a combined shipping invoice to pay. This is NOT possible if you have already paid for any of the items you are ordering.

Customers in Italy please note that due to the high number of orders that vanish and never arrive whilst in the hands of the Italian postal system, we will only send orders under £22 in value to Italy via standard untracked airmail. If your items total more than £22, please arrange to pay for tracked and signed shipping so that your order may be shipped safely and securely. If this option is not offered in the listing, please use the following listing to pay the extra cost of this.

Also note that orders sent to Italy may take MUCH longer than eBays estimate to be delivered and, whilst some orders do arrive within a week or two, many orders sent to Italy are not delivered for three or perhaps even four weeks! This is entirely outside our control, as we ship within two working days and once your order is in the hands of Poste Italiane, there is nothing we can do to get it to you any faster.

Please DO NOT send messages with the title "Item not received" as these open complaint cases against us and damage our seller rating! Instead please use the general "Other" heading to ask about your delivery if several weeks have passed.

Lastly, all please note that when asks you "Did the item arrive on or before" their estimated delivery date, it also damages our seller rating if you answer "No", so bear in mind that we always ship within two working days, so if you answer "No" because your local postal service (especially in Italy!) has taken weeks to deliver, you are punishing us, not them!

Thank you all for your kind consideration of the above and remember that we will always do our very best to sort out any problems or questions you may have related to your order if you contact us using the "Contact Seller" and (if the choice is given) "Other" ask a question of seller options.
