Seller's Description
From June to August, Digitalis purpurea ‘Dalmatian Mixed’ produces elegant spires of spotted bells, adored by bees and garden pollinators and is excellent for cutting. Commonly known as Foxgloves, Digitalis are much-loved woodland plants. Semi-evergreen and biennial, they bloom during their second year before setting seed. Great for naturalising in humus-rich, moist soil. Remove spent flowers soon after blooming if self-seeding is not desired. Grows well in a position in sun or partial shade with any aspect. If you garden on heavy soil, enrich the area prior to planting with leaf mould and add grit to the base of planting holes to help drainage. AGM winning Digitalis purpurea ‘Dalmatian Mixed’ can also be grown successfully in containers of rich, well-drained soil. Plant towards the middle or back of your border or pot to bloom above and behind other plants. Purple flowers such as Honesty, Alliums, Verbascum and Verbena make great complimentary companions. H&S: 60cm x 45cm. Digitalis purpurea ‘Dalmatian Mixed’ is a hardy (H5) biennial or short lived perennial which does not require any winter protection.
