Interesting and rare post note issued at Fauresmith (Free Orange State) on 20 October 1898; cashed at Post Graaff-Reinet (Cape of Good Hope) on 26 October 1898. Commission of 1 penny was levied and the red stamp "ONE PENNY POSTAGE" was glued to the Rev. and cancelled. For the note was cancelled outside the Free Orange State, but in Cape Colony it is considered much more interesting, than the common cancellation. Beautifully preserved condition. In Standard Catalog of Paper Money there is typo in denomination: S682 is described as "2 shillings - 6 pence" instead of "1 shilling - 6 pence" as well as the inaccuracy in year: the undated notes circulated in 1898 are hardly can be assigned as "1900." For high popularity of these notes among collectors this note was published in the article en.numista.com/catalogue/note345789.html of Numista catalog.
