Rutile: Reticulated MM: Flashing Ruby-red 7.24mm Crystal Cluster; Mini-Sculpture

Rutile has one of the highest levels of both dispersion and refraction of any gem. It is far more glittery and rare than any diamond of a similar color. Unfortunately, these are seldom seen to full effect as most natural gem crystals are a very deep red that dampens the light passing through. This very curious and showy piece sparkles mightily due to the extreme luster of its oddly twinned crystal faces. This very attractive micromount specimen sparkles as-is, and the piece could be taken from its plastic case as-is and prong-set as a jewel. Very sculptural form, with more translucency than usually seen in this material. The crystal is mounted on removeable mineral tack so you can re-orient or remove for study. It is a fantastic little sculpture that will look great in any collection. Small, but spectacular!
