Prehnite Partial Botryoidal Nodule: Epidote Inclusions; Pretty Gemmy Color; Mali

With its interesting inclusions of long, deep-green epidote crystals, this piece is equally suited as a mineral display piece, or as rough stock for cutting gemstones. Prehnite is supposedly the first mineral to be named in honor of a person (the then-governor of South Africa's Cape Colony, where examples were first identified to science). This piece has not been thoroughly cleaned, but could be scrubbed up with a toothbrush and warm soapy water if you intend to keep it as a specimen. Base is flat, so it doesn't require a display stand. Prehnite is often cut for both faceted and cabochon gems, where it is valued for its hazy glow.
