• Condition: Used with newspaper cutting glued to a thin green card backing.  Some minor creases but these are only visible under shallow angles of illumination. See images.
• Comments: the Aswan dam  was a joint Egyptian/Soviet project that had many economic benefits to Egypt. Unfortunately, it involved the flooding of a nearby town of Wadi Halfa and the submergence of the Island of Philae which held many ancient Egyptian monuments. Therefore, UNESCO decided to fund the removal and reconstruction of many of these monuments to the new shore line, at higher altitude on the island of Agilkia. This newspaper story describes this process and some of the history that was being preserved. It was written by the newspaper’s Science Correspondent, Adrian Berry – the 4^th Viscount Camrose.
