Just had a payment from Google Checkout and the fee is even more than it would have been with Paypal.
Thought it would have made more sense to pitch fees just below Paypal.

Is that comparing Google with normal PayPal or Micro? I thought when they announced the changes that the fees were going to be a match for normal PayPal - does that not seem to have happened?
The same aren't they? 20p + 3.4%.
I don't see it as a cause to dump them as a payment facilitator. Keep them to catch those buyers who prefer to use it as a matter of convenience but try to steer people towards your preferred payment method.
I thought the fees were the same as PP too, and I would prefer Google Checkout as the money goes straight into my bank without any withdrawal fees or other stupid PP malarky.

I received a Google payment the other day and it is now the same as poopal fees 2.9% + .30 cents

That's too bad! Does not offer much incentive to use Google over PP if cost is the same! PP is easier to use; less steps. I've seen some companies offer their products or services below competitors, build up their customer base, and then raise the fees after receiving a sizable piece of the market. I've seen some banks do this by offering high interest rates on savings & cd accounts, and then bottoming out the offer. It is a tactic I find insulting. I often look elsewhere for services when this happens. In the case of GC or PP the options are more limited.

For all the mess of PP, it is sure what customers like to use. That and the alternative of personal checks/money orders. I guess I will stick to those two choices until something better comes along.
I'll keep offering both; but I'm not going to be promoting either. I'll just be watching both of them as whatever unfolds.
