I need to come up with a good "Psych" tactic.

VERY glad to see you back, Gramma. I haven't read this entire thread or others that might discuss your absence but apparently you're in full poetic mode.

This month for YDC I decided to put up the items that take up the most space in my house. There are some real bargains if you don't mind paying somewhat hefty mailing costs, which I assure you will be exactly what I pay the Post Office, with no handling charges.

It occurred to me: has anybody corresponded with the beneficiaries of this month's charities to tell them about our work? I was thinking people who are interested in ataxia and Parkinson's Disease would read about eBid on the respective websites and become interested enough to bid. It might be too late to make this effort now, but does anybody usually inform the charities ahead of time so they can maybe publicize our campaigns?

I don't think it's too late to inform the charities if it hasn't been done. We have a whole week to go!!
I am now going to see if any green ticks have been left for me and woe to the person that has been sneaking around nicking them while I was having my beauty sleep!

Done. Fired off an email to the Parkinson contact address (adpa@adpaparkinson.org). Too bad I didn't do this before close of business on a Friday night but I hope somebody will notice my message Monday morning.

Hello Mr. Gerstel, Ms. Whitford, Ms. Allo, or Ms. Weiner,

You might be aware of a United Kingdom-based online auction site named eBid. It's been in operation for 10 years in the UK and is now acquiring large numbers of United States users.

Once a month, eBid hosts 7 day long YDC (charity) listings which are arranged so that the proceeds from designated auctions go to the charity chosen by the person who raised the most money in the previous month's campaign.

Rules include: items must start at 99 pence in the UK and $1.42 in the US, must run for exactly 7 days, and must have no reserve price. As you can imagine, there are some astounding bargains available and bidding can become cutthroat.

eBid has an excellent record, having raised thousands of pounds or dollars for worthy charities, and I thought you would be very interested to hear there will be a check coming to you when the smoke clears from April 2009's YDC contest. I say "contest" because this month, the UK members tout their items to raise money for the Ataxis foundation in England, while the US members are pushing for YOUR organization. "YDC" stands for "Your Donation Counts". Here is a link to this month's YDC auctions:

Thank you. TexasAda on eBid, a U.S. member

Ada, that sounds just perfect. I am sure when the rest of the UK wakes up there will be more comments. BTW, you have some really nice items listed. they are just not practical to ship across the ocean. Never mind, I hope there will be some bidding from the US. We could do with a few more participating, but I can't see how to drag them to the forum and the YDC. Any thoughts anyone?

Hi Ada, I don't know about Parkinson's Disease, but I have let The American Cancer Society know about our monthly YDC, numerous times. It's good to see you around too. I'll check out your auctions.

Meebo, we've been racking our brains trying to figure out ways, but nothing seems to work. We even sent out pm's to all the members of the USA Experience to no avail. I'm at a loss.
