Never tried plantain with egg and bacon. You saying it would make a good breakfast?
I lived in South America many years ago, where plantain used to be a cheap "filler" added to the main meal.
May give it a go - won't be able to call it a "traditional English breakfast" anymore though

I burn incense, covers up almost any smell. Sometimes it takes two sticks (like when I accidentally test the smoke alarm).

To make the kitchen smell like you have been baking, put a cinnamon stick or some vanilla in a pan and bring to a boil. Just be careful not to boil it dry or you will have another set of problems!

marianne - for breakfast, use one with a black skin, and slice into 1cm chunks - turn frequently until very well browned - put on kitchen paper, and serve hot.
Nice with fried dumplins;- SR flour, salt, water, kneaded well, then divide into egg-sized lumps, knead each to make smooth balls, drop into 1/2 cm hot oil, and brown all over until crisp - turn heat well down and put a lid on untill they swell (which means they are cooked inside) - serve hot with breakfast.
