Thread: Any house proud peeps around?

  1. #1

Default Any house proud peeps around?

I rarely fry any food, partially because I prefer to use other methods and partially because the smell tends to linger.
Fried plantains for tea at around 6 pm and there is still a very distinct smell in the kitchen. How do I get rid of it? Everything has been washed up and all surfaces (that could have had oil splashed on them) cleaned.

Get the oH to strip down the carburettor of the lawnmower on the kitchen table, and rinse the parts in the sink. That should do the trick

You horror. Haven't got a kitchen table, so that idea wouldn't work anyhow.
BTW, complete change of subject - remember the F1 prints I got from you. Gave them to eldest son as Xmas pressies and he loves them!

Saw on TV yesterday that if you had a pan that you have cooked fish, then put used tea bags in the pan to get rid of the smell.
dont know if this will help.

It's not the pan that has been used. I've cleaned the worktops, cooker and washed up everything; there just seems to be a "frying" smelll lingering in the kitchen.

Probably ejeans suggestion of spraying the area with something will be the solution.

    OOhh!!!

I LOVE plantain with eggs and bacon!!

Just ventilate - open a door or window on BOTH sides of the house and let air currents do the work for you.

Or have a good spray with Oust!

Oust if fantastic but if you don't have any, the 'old wives' version for removing smells would be to cut a lemon in half, put it in a pan of hot water and let it boil rapidly, uncovered for half an hour.
