    Angry Fake ipod

    This is a long one!
Originally ordered an ipod on 4th November. Took 2 wks to arrive, turned out seller did not have ipod in his posession when listed. Was ordering them in from china when ever he sold one. Wrong colour sent, returned at my own cost as he promised a refund that never happened. Finally got correct one in middle of December. Only it wasn't the correct one because it's a fake. The seller is still suspended from my previous complaint about non delivery so I can't contact him directly (and to be honest I don't think there would be any point if I could). I opened a dispute/claim with paypal but they won't help. I'm over £75 down. My (very dissappointed) son is stuck with a fake product, and if it goes up the creek, I'm well and truly stuck without a paddle.

Any advice on what I can do next will be greatly apreciated!

    Thanx,

    Doodly

Wow, what a mess. I'm so sorry to hear your Christmas was spoiled in this way. Make sure you've kept all information you have about the purchase, with seller's full details. I'm not sure what your next move should be since I've never been in this position, but I think I'd contact trading standards for help and advice since it involves fake goods.

If your payment via paypal was credit card funded, contact your card co. about a refund.

I'm sure there'll be some more ideas along soon.

If you paid by credit card via PayPal, you may be able to claim off your credit card company

Is the seller registered as a business? You should be able to take it all up with Trading Standards. Get as much info in writing as possible. Name, address and phone numbers of seller would be a great start.

Sorry to hear about your initial purchase from eBid - there are plenty of sellers that are just sooooooo not like that, but unfortunately there are less scrupulous sellers that sometimes get through too not too often on here, I hasten to add!

Thanks for your replies. It never occured to me that trading standards could help! Duh. Unfortunately the purchase was funded from my bank account so no recourse there.

Small claims will be your only way, I am sure some one will post a link on how to do it online.

Quick update: have found sellers email address and mailed him explaining situation and requesting a full refund. Have told him I'm happy to return the fake item upon receipt of a suitable stamped addressed envelope. I'm not getting stung for postage costs again! I've made it clear that if the matter is not resolved to my satisfaction within 14 days I will involve Trading Standards. Thanks to everyone who has replied to my post.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that fake items should not be returned but sent to trading standards. Not sure if this is a legal requirement though.

Yes - as it is fake, I would speak to TS first Doodly.

See what they say first and go from there - they may be able to tell you everything you need to know by telephone.

Fingers crossed you get this resolved
