Thread: Who ships world wide?

  1. #1

    Default Who ships world wide?

Hi all I am new here I am no stranger to auction sites. I have moved from the dark side. I have never really shipped outside of the UK I was just wondering is the market place bigger here on Ebid outside the UK?

Its not i have never wanted to ship outside the UK its just I have always wanted to deal with getting a UK following first and then move outside the UK.

What are your personal thoughts about selling outside the UK?

    Hi NP,
I, like you, figured that I would get a UK following first. However, I have to say that since I dropped international from my ecommerce site (never started it here YET), I am positive it was the wrong move. My reports show that I have a lot of international viewers, so I am reconsidering.
I believe there is a wide international market if you are prepared to post to them, you only have to look round the forums to see that there are many regular posters from the US and Canada as well as the occasional European.
I think a lot of the eBid sellers post abroad and do very well from it.
Ultimately, the choice is your own and you will no doubt get comments from the others, but IMHO, I think to open your sales to international buyers would be a good move

Certainly, I would recommend selling to as many countries as you can - it opens up your market SO much. When I first started out selling online several years ago (on the dark side) I only sold to the UK, didn't offer paypal and thought I was doing OK. When I opened it up to the US, Canada, Australia and Europe - and added that payment option, I saw a huge increase in my sales.

Good luck to you - I would recommend selling outside the UK as well.

I only post within the uk, mainly because that's all i do & have ever done on feebay, the reason i don't on there now, is because of the delivery DSR's, because i don't want my score to go down because it takes a while to get to them overseas.
But i would like to start selling overseas on ebid, the other reason i haven't is because i haven't got around to it yet, and each time i list something new here, i forget to work out the overseas postage.

I will ship to the moon if someone orders from there, No idea what the P&P will cost but i will have a go.

But yes worldwide shipping is on 99% of my items, the only ones that are not are things that need a UK power supply etc.

All I would say is a word of caution if you are selling high priced electrical items or things like mobile phones - avoid selling to Nigeria.... it has been known to cause scams in the past on the dark side... I don't sell world wide, but only omit two or three countries.

Than again I don't suppose anyone would bother creating scams to do with postcards! ;-)

I have had a few issues with Nigeria in the past on my website but at that time only sold to the UK. I will never deal with Nigeria they always order thousands of pounds worth of goods but will you get the money??? i very much doubt it it is nice to see in your inbox and is always very tempting but be cautious I had the excuse I only ship to UK so got out of the sale.

I will give international shipping a go but I never know what price to put it at as it is difficult to pop to the post office every 5 minutes to check the price so I tend to put it at £10 plus

what sort of price do you guys and girls charge I sell clothing so although not heavy some items can be bulky. I know the one time I did ship abroad just to use sign for airmail it was £4.50 before it even hit the scales

Yep, I agree and I ship worldwide.
OP - Are you in a position where you can afford to REFUSE an international sale if it came along?
I had a limited geographic market to begin with too but as long as customers are prepared to pay the P&P, then that's one extra sale made!! And I've done well with the US and Eastern Europe, so no complaints here

I agree with you raindropsie and blossomtree i supose i need to trust more. By that i mean with UK buyers i guess in the back of my mind they are in reach and can be found in fraudulent events. But the UK is so small compared to most countries and I guess I am losing a lot of money no offering this service. I am going to give it a go fingers crossed thanks for all the advice
