ok this is my take on this subject. first i was always told by USPS that once it leave the country they have no control on the item, it falls upon local postal services. the only option is for insurance, which i have sold on other sites, with this and other names, and always require insurance for all international auctions. that way lost, stolen, damaged it is all covered. also all bidders are responsible for customs of there country. there are many reasons why some have been mentions already. but i am not an international lawyer and can not cover all countries policy's and customs. i also carry a no return no refund. as i feel auctions run long enough for bidder to read auction, ask question, ask for more photos, ect. i buy one of a kind items at local auctions and i buy them as is , where is, as found so thats how i sell them. i know some of this might sound mean, but i am also a buyer as a seller. i follow my own rules, if i jump into an auction and get screwed then it is my own fault. some buyers need to take adult responsible for there actions. this is my own opinion from my own experiences, which with all things in life vary from person to person. that being said have a wonderful day!

The seller's name has been crossed through which I assume means at the least his/her account is under investigation and could mean is totally suspended. Regardless, I have to agree that the seller did her/his part by shipping the item and USPS and the Indian postal service seemed to agree that the package made it to Indian customs. I don't know what more the seller could have done to ensure delivery.

However, I also read the listing itself. A few phrases, beyond some spelling or grammar mistakes, would have put me on alert: "i don't ship to freaking Nigeria or for your cousin's birthday present" etc. which sound rather flippant or insulting to me.

My opinion is you probably in practical terms don't have any recourse for getting your money back unless by chance the seller has a conscience and you could do it outside of eBid's auspices. Sometimes we have to consider these losses of money as fees paid for real life education. I also understand your rage. Too bad you already left positive feedback for the seller. Maybe you can at least edit that.

Looks like the listing was copied from an e**y listing too. Not good to use on ebid!! Should have changed the name. Language is enough to make you look elsewhere, besides it's a lot of money for something from someone with no feedback.

    Default International Shipping

I know from experience the problems that arise with international shipping. I Import and export truffles and gourmet food all over the world. Here are a few tips that have helped me.

For shipments from the US, NEVER USE ANYTHING EXCEPT EXPRESS OR REGISTERED. Priority and other services have NO international tracking, just a customs number you can track until it leaves the US (some countries do track delivery with the customs number for example Japan). Registered mail is slower but safe, express cost more but is fast and includes 100 insurance with the cost.

Governments that contract EMS are dependable in most cases, except in west Africa IE Nigeria (the ems there will steal anything).

Remember that most customs problems can be avoided by using UPS, FEDEX, or DHL. They serve as the customs broker for you, plus they usually are operating within a deadline, if they fail to meet the delivery date then your postage is refunded.

Pay with paypal for international shipments, then if something does not show up you are refunded as sellers must provide delivery proof, if not they lose out.

I feel it is the sellers responsibility to know the customs of the customs country. If not then they should not be willing to ship there. If I said I shipped truffles to Iran without knowing if they would clear customs I would not blame my customer when they were refused and destroyed.

Hope this is a bit of help.

footballcrazy has no auctions, no feedback, and no about me page... not an encouraging set-up. Do you have the item number so we can see the timing?

Difficult to advice you if we don't know when you bought and paid and how you paid.
Give us some more details, please.
