Maybe individual bread roll covers for breakfast in bed or room service to a single person?

Ooh, it worked. Thanks for the invaluable info. If I manage a few sales I might actually be able to get through the spare room door. I've been trying to clear it for a couple of years, but it never seems to go down.

Well done the link on your post above works fine but where did it go on this one? Are you making changes to it?

I forgot it that time. How do I get it to appear on every post? I'm not too familiar with message boards.
I usually lurk and read plenty, but I don't often have much to say, as I'm not an expert with most things, just love collecting the old and unusual stuff.

Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right, and the other is a husband.

They are table mat covers and would have originally had had removable heat resistant pads inserted. These covers could then be removed for laundering. (Courtesy of my antique dealer wife)

You need to go to 'User CP' on the left hand side of the blue bar at the top of page and go to 'Edit signature'. Once you have saved it in there it will appear on all your posts.

They are, in fact, to go over small plates where bread or Bread Rolls are served on to catch the crumbs. Have seen them being used in high class hotels in southern Germany not so long ago. It saves of washing the plate after each cover as only the linen gets changed.
Nice one, have not seen them over here. If you are going to auction them I may be in with a shot.

I was thinking to put little lavender sachets in and pop into drawers etc.
