Thread: The Plug Your Auctions Bump Rule

  1. #1

Talking The Plug Your Auctions Bump Rule

    Clarification Needed Peeps.
It's not very often I "Bump" my thread BUT I do add info to it a lot, whats going on, whats new in the world of SLG etc. Sometimes I get three or four updates a day, does this count as bumping, or because I am adding to my thread for a legitimate reason is it ok?
    OR
Should I start another thread somewhere else, I like to think of my thread as a kind of rolling newsletter and dont really want to keep closing each thread and opening a new one as a lot of the information in there is usefull, may get lost/deleted or someone may find an unknown gem just by reading the backlog.

So my question really is, should I start a newsletter thread that only contains updates and current releases and usefull information (and keep my plug your auction thread seperate) and if so, where should I start it??

Why don't you start a social group and invite those with an interest to join you? That way you can update as you need to.

The plug thread is definitely the place for it (it's the only place you're allowed to market your stuff, other than your sig file). The rule has now been clarified that you may only post to the plug thread once in 24 hours. If you have more than one update a day, I suggest the best thing to do is accumulate notes in a text file, and post the previous day's total update daily. That will make sure everything is included, but not break any posting rules.

I have some people telling me info is appreciated and I should keep it coming, others telling me I am breaking the rules, This may be more hassle than it's worth...

If people want the information, you could always start your own mailing list and contact people directly. It's only the forums that have the rule: http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=109693 might help.
    Cheers!

Kimbo, for me this is a hobby, mailing lists, social groups etc is a bit much, I normally get 20-30 minutes a day for personal browsing, most of which I spend on Ebid, cutting and pasting the latest updates in a thread was quick and easy. I'll try and figure something else out, It seems a bit strange that I cant start a newsletter thread elsewhere as I'm not just plugging my auctions, I am trying to promote comics as a whole, which in turn helps all the comic sellers on here. (who also sell SLG).

Sorry officeboy, I'm just the temporary (somebody else's turn next time!) messenger, I don't make the rules. A lot of things would work differently if I was made dictator for life, but they have yet to offer me the job.

And as you are the messenger. I promise not to shoot, thanks for the info tho, will just plan a better way to get the info out there.

    Have a nice day :-)

I have a feeling that you can update your last post without the whole thread going back to the top.
Am just trying it out on here.
