    Default Recorded Signed for Post

I received three packages last week, all sent recorded delivery. All of these were simply put through my letterbox without being signed for.

I’m just wondering if this is normal behaviour, or do I just have a less than diligent postman?

If I were a less honest person I could claim I didn’t receive them and I guess that Royal Mail would have to cough up?

There's a few posties that do that.

It's very common and very wrong.
Unfortunately, if you check the tracking numbers online, you will find that they have been signed.
I had a number of incidents last October/November time and created an almighty fuss with RM. On one of them they had actually written my name in the signature box.
Fot this very same reason, I don't use it. For lower value items I get a COP and for more expensive items it's special delivery.

it is very wrong especially if you don't give permission.

me personally i gave my postie permission to sign his name and put them somewhere they wont get stolen!! i do this because of the amount of packages i have arriving, he also used to work at the same place as me, i know he's bent as they get, but he wouldn't have off with someones stuff he's always trying to catch me in saying it'll look suspicious with all his signatures on my parcels

I was wondering if I should tell RM? I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but I think if you pay for a service then you should get it...

i see where your coming from, unless you've given permission they shouldn't just assume you want it putting through the letterbox, obviously no one wants to get anyone in trouble, id ask the postman to knock on the door for a signature, but to be honest i know if the parcel never arrived and its signed for the postman would get in trouble, so the only thing i would contemplate asking is if they signed thier own name out of courtesy

I definitely think you should complain.
The one who used to do it here took the "funnies" with me, but that is his problem not mine.
RM postage has gone up about 4 to 5 times rate of inflation over the last 2 or 3 years, yet they are trying to cut corners every step of the way and unless you have come to some sort of arrangement with your regular postie, this should not happen.

Ive told my postie as ive known her for years to put them through letter box, or through the top window if large.
If its your regular postie just have a word might be best.
