I wouldn't say it's the luck of the draw hun I'd say it's more that the doctor made sure that the patient was the right one to take it

The instructions for doctors to read regarding which patients it would suit or not was not being read by doctors everywhere. If your doctor has made sure you didn't fit into any of the scenarios where it would be bad for you then I'm sure you will be fine.

I'll remove my post I think - I only put it there to help as you asked the question. I suppose I feel scared stiff about it as my hubby is still sick after 8 months when he only took it for 6 weeks.

Hi, I have tried all sorts to stop smokimg, been hypnotised twice, that was a waste of money, I just wish there was a magic formula but it all comes down to willpower. I know I can live without them, I don't smoke much at work, just in my break and I do 11 hour shifts, I stopped for a few days last week when I had pleurisy, I smoke most sat here at my computer or when I am on holiday! or should I say waste most as they usually just burn away in ashtray. Anyway, have right now decided, am not going to buy anymore, am once again going to make another attempt to stop, I think i will buy some gums like someone said, have tried everything else, been a smoker on and off for 40 years, Allan Carrs very good, reading the book made me want to stop but I did'nt, don't understand why I am so weak in this as I am quite a determined person, wonder if it's in the genes, my birth mother was an alcoholic ( brought up by my father and grandparents ) anyway good luck, will be watching this thread

slinkyri thanks for the info i have been warned about the depression by my gp as i have suffered from chronic reoccurant depression for 30 years now so i'm no stranger to it . All i can do is keep every thing crossed and monitor my mood closely .If my mood start to change for the worse then i have to stop it .could do with out the night swaets as i alredy get them as a side affect from the antidepresants that i have to take .

Hi penny good luck ,try the gum it helped me stop but got sick of chewing after 2 weeks and cracked. I think you have a good point with the family conection, looking back in to my family history when asked about my depression by my physchiatrist i found that relative who had suffered from anorexia , heavy drinking problems and a relative with a heroin addiction all tied in to the same addictive / mental health family

Ay, and that's the best incentive to stop. After 26 years, and increasing pains in my legs, I just smoked my last one night and woke the next morning determined not to start again. I didn't give in, but I was a bast**d for three days. Three weeks later my partner Angie stopped too, exactly the same way - cold turkey. She had seen me do it and decided she had to as well.

I can't forget it, as I deliberately chose Valentine's Day to stop. Don't know why, it just felt the right time.

You can do it Kayla. You just need to love life and your health. Oh, and a desire to see your grandchildren grow up!
