I've no experience at all because I have never smoked (never wanted to - no virtue where there is no temptation) but I just want to congratulate you for trying. It is tough, I know, and I so want you to succeed!

Hello Kayla , glad you are trying to stop....I can not tell you about your champix , but I can say just stick in and stop...it will help your health ...
I should say that I smoked anything from 60 to 80 a day...yes 60 to 80...and I stopped...but I did get a fright one night....chest pains...ended up in hospital....but there was another reason....salt..
and I must be honest here.....I did not feel the need to have a fag ...honest...just stopped...so merlin...if you can stop for 6 hours between fags....you can stop...end of ...best of luck to anyone who tries to stop...
...just do it.....Papa.
It's gonna be tough as ive been smoking for 28 years and only ever given up for 2 weeks previously.Got to try as my chest is getting bad and i have astma![]()
Thanks madeline and papa for the support![]()
I stopped my 60-a-day habit 27 years ago.
Only thing I had to help was Rowntrees fruit gums - ever time I wanted a cig, I made myself suck one instead.
Also as a psych nurse, dealing with other addictions, I knew that the actual physical addiction to the nicotine only lasts about 28 days - after that it's all in the mind!!
So - stick at it Kayla - find a 'hook' to hang it on - use a boiled sweet (dont crunch it!) or a slow cup of *decaf* coffee or tea, whenever you want a cig. ( decaf because you dont need to get hooked on caffeine instead!)
Thanks for your support and incouragement Jude![]()
I quit a 40-60 a day habit about 7 years ago. I used the Allen Carr Easy Way to Stop Smoking book, which I found really helpful.
Whatever way you go, the very best of luck, it's the best thing you'll ever do![]()
