After all you have started elsewhere from scratch, so why not here?
I understand the concept of "level" playing field, and we earned our feedback here, and why would I want to import grreedbay feedback, etc., but the phrase "Cutting off the nose to spite the face" comes to mind. We are all after increased traffic and bids/sales. If there is a way to encourage and engage buyers through the use of actual/verifiable feedback, then why is this bad? No one truly knows what will happen, but the chance for negative repercussions are small (imho).

If someone has a good fedback record elsewhere then let them tell me about it, let me see they are committed to this site, perhaps by buying some things, and if as has been said they are selling 42" Plasma TV's then have some lower priced items to to start with as well and gradually build up confidence. I would be less inclined to trust imported feedback personally.

i agree with those that have been here awhile i am 100% positive on greedbay with over 400 feedbacks (would have been over 500 now but they took away over 75 when new rules started) now i'm trying to get started on ebid i think i should earn my feedbacks for this site-

With over 1000 total feedback (881 unique) at 99.9% on the other side , one retaliatory neg about 3 years ago, I don't want my feedback transferred.
I agree with Ken I would be less inclined to trust imported feedback especially when you can't read the comments. How many have you seen that are positive with negative comments because people were afraid that if they neg they would get one back.
I would rather build up trust here with feedback earned here, and if anyone does want to check me out over there it's the same user names as here.

Feedback isn't about numbers- it's about words. it's reading what customers have SAID about the transaction. Feedback comments are the cornerstone of building trust between buyers and sellers.
I am against importing a feedback 'number' from other sites as it tells the reader nothing about how the transaction went, i really hope ebid re think this policy and do not allow any more transfers of feedback 'numbers'.

It hadn't even occurred to me that 'importing' feedback would just mean the number, not the content. That's madness. Unless it's pennies or I already know the seller, I always read the feedback and reading "between the lines" is essential.

I know it's not a democracy round here, but if it were I'd be another adding my vote against imports.

I concur that without the context, numbers are next to meaningless which is why I asked how it would be represented. Add me to the list of those opposed. Best to avoid the actual importation of external feedback imho.

Linking to it should be allowed and sufficient through sites like auctionfb or toolhaus.

i have copied some of my feedback from feebay to my about page, this was to give buyers an indication as to my integrity and trustworthiness, prior to gaining a feedback rate here!!. i agree that it is hard to start off from nothing but we have all done it and continue to build the trust of our buyers, with gaining sales and positive feedback through our services.

to allow feedback transfers defeates the hard work carried out by the long standing sellers here, ( i have only been here around 1 yr now and still find it tough sometimes) and also cheapens the site IMHO

I also agree that importing feedback from other sites is not a good idea. As stated, it gives an immediate false impression of what business that seller has conducted here. Also - it's quite easy for a seller that perhaps isn't as honest as others to carefully select ONLY the good feedback, leaving out the bad - and thereby leaving prospective buyers with a totally wrong impression of the seller's history. The program I use to design my auctions automatically picks up the feeback on yaBe - both good and bad. And before anyone gets their dander up - I'm not saying that everyone who would want to do this would only pick out the good feedback but that such a system designed for feedback to be submitted using jpg or left up to the honesty of the individual is going to end up biting eBid in the arse because there are ALWAYS nefarious individuals out there who couldn't care less how much they *fudge* the truth in order to make a sale.

In my personal opinion - a smart buyer will always open any links provided to investigate a seller's history/feedback on another site and also as stated - the feedback earned here is a honest representation of the sellers actions here on Ebid - one they have worked hard to earn.

If there's a count of the Yays & Nays please add my name to the Nays..

My eBay fb is/was 420+ (about 600 incl.'old' fb) 100%, which I'm proud of as it was a genuine representation of my activity There. Feedback on eBid from anywhere BUT eBid is meaningless, imho.. it can lead more to confusion/mistrust than the opposite, for which it's meant.

eBid is strong enough to stand on it's own two feet, please don't cheapen it with imported feedback.
