Also importing feedback as numbers with no comments other than This piece of Positive feedback was officially imported into eBid..... is worthless. That for me does not instill trust as a buyer. If anything it's offputting & I would be more inclined to shop elsewhere
Apparently it is Feebay themselves who have stated that other sites are not permitted to import the feedback comments. This means that either eBid has to refuse all requests from sellers to have their numbers transfered or they have to use the "worthless" approach you dislike. Being as eBid are doing what they can to encourage users to come here, I think you can see which method is being used.

Then eBid must find other ways of encouraging users to come here as this method is not a healthy one

We all started with zero on here and i dont think zero feedback would stop me buying from a new seller, unless the items price looked too good to be true.

Good new sellers are welcome here, but I'm another that doesn't see why importing feedback is necessary. We all started with 0 feedback on other auction sites, why not here too? If you're a clued up seller who cares about customers and can present your goods accurately and fairly, why is lack of feedback such a problem?

Actually, yes, I can see it's a problem for sellers who specialise in supplying 42" plasma TVs and digital cameras (or not supplying them??). But the Internet has enough of them anyhow.

as far as I am concerened , I did ask about moving feedback....was told it could not be done....so just put it in my listings....I do not know much about computers , so when someone says do this or do that it is way over my head....but I started with 0 ( zero ) on ebay ...so what is wrong with starting again....as said , if someone sold 10,000 ebooks , then that feedback does not seem much to me....look how many people over on ebay complain because they did not get feedback....so I said I think I might start selling feedback.....would you like me to sell it here ? I might get a lot of customers and get my score up , but I do not think ebid would be happy ........leave well alone I say....

As a newbie I have to agree with the others regarding the actual importing of feedback from that other site. In the past month I've raised my feedback from 0 to +17 (with a few more due) Granted, I bought most of the items contributing to my feedback, but if it helps show that I'm an active user, and my listings are accurate and thorough, I feel it will speak to my benefit.

I am SOOO happy to have left Fleabay behind, I'd rather not have any reminders of those days--even though I proudly had over 1700+ (no negs, neutrals or feedback withdrawls)--so my little "feedback icon" in my All About Me page is more than sufficient.

Besides, as a long time seller over there, I imagine that I got lazy at times, and didn't put as much effort in to my listings, and such, so I consider selling on here from scratch a bit of a challenge, a way of "reinventing" myself and business practices!

Also, regardless of how perfect a feedback score a seller has, I would NEVER purchase fine jewelry (over $100), or ANY major electronic equipment, online--like a TV, or stero system unless I was VERY familiar with the item, had seen it and touched it at a local store, the price was great, and what not, and then it would have to be from a major electronics chain store--not a one off wholesaler, who may or may not provide customer support should something go wrong. But that's just me!

Imported feedback won't bring more sales. Much better to make the effort of sending emails to the people who left you positive feedback on other sites. Telling people where you now trade, and all about Ebid, is a far more positive way of getting your sales going rather than just a bunch of inflated numbers.

Similar feelings here. I don't think feedback should be imported. If you want to show you are an established seller, mention your past feedback record and username somewhere in your listings or about me page - that way potential customers can check it out, but build up your own fb here. After all you have started elsewhere from scratch, so why not here?

So how exactly would the imported feedback from another site be represented? The ubiquitous From: User at Another site and Comments: This piece of positive feedback was officially imported into eBid by an administrator, the feedback rating was gained from a previous auction career at Another site ., or something else?
