This thread shows how long this one has been a problem. How about changing this, G&M?

I agree too. It's worth mentioning that one change that has come in since 2005 is that we can now blackball a user and opt to delete all their bids and questions.

There are 2 sides to this coin though. Our current setup is a much better option for fishing out scammers should they appear. Allowing users to hide questions would allow scammers to hide from any possibly interfering questions that would catch them out.

Maybe the option can be available based on feedback.

But surely scamming sellers will just lie in their answers?

We could get rid of most scammers by making new sellers who want to sell items over a certain value, pay £1.00 to have a letter sent with a PIN, to their registered home address, which they'd have to enter to sell items over a certain value, and we could also really encourage the use of PPPay.com escrow on items over a certain price (by completely removing the escrow fee, since it costs nothing for PPPay.com to hold the money, as it's all merely data).

I agree. Questions should be visible to all members from the moment they're asked.

How many of us have asked the seller a seemingly innocent question on possible scam auctions? The majority of scammers don't bother replying and if they just delete the question, surely, that's suspicious enough to warrant reporting.
