Default Can't understand why I can't sell here

I'm totally baffled why my sales are so low here. Admittedly, most of my stuff here is of value to collectors only.

However, one item in particular has me absolutely baffled.

I have this particular item http://uk.nine.ebid.net/perl/auction...4-0&mo=auction

at £7.99 plus postage on here and have had it on for months. I upgraded to Featured for it a while ago and have so far had 224 views of it without a single sale.

I'm selling the exact same item on feepay for between £9.99 to £11.99 ( as I have been varying my price to experiment ) and am selling 4 or 5 of them per week with each having an average of 16 views before a sale is made.

This is such an easy to use site that it's a shame it isn't working out. I really can't understand though why something has so many views and won't sell here but is selling over and over with hardly any views for more money on the other site.

I don't read the forums that much but wondered are there a lot of buyers here at eBid?

I know nothing about PS2 games so I wouldn't be in the market for this auction. However I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS because I expected to check out your username and find a zero feedback seller with a blank' all about me' page. Well you proved me wrong . Maybe by posting here and starting to market yourself a bit you might start getting sales here. I wish you lots of luck

Looking at the listing, is this a genuine game or a copy of it, I know nothing about PS2's, it just looks a bit odd to me.

    It's not a game, Ken. It's a memory card.

If your items are going for cheaper here, then it's probably nothing to do with price. It's probably just a case of buyers being unfamiliar with eBid and not wanting to take a chance on anything new. OR maybe not even knowing how to make a purchase on eBid. We take it for granted that everyone knows how to shop on a new site, but there are many technophobes out there.

I've seen a few sellers putting a link on their auctions which seems to help a lot as it eases the buyer into making a quick and smooth purchase. Basically, to put your buddy points link encouraging buyers to sign up if they want to purchase your item or bid on it. Try putting it on every single auction listing and see how that goes.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I find the several different font sizes in your listing very difficult to read. They're also in different colours so it kind of makes me go a little cross-eyed.

Best of luck in your sales anyway.

Cheers for the replies. I have placed my buddy link in the auction as advised. I've also gotten rid of the fonts and colours though these were in the same format as the ones selling on feepay. Will give anything a go though. Listing is in 2 colours for now. Looking a little dowdy since I edited it but I'll do some more work on it tomorrow when I have more time.

Hey Lemrin, im not really an atari St fan, more of an AMIGA fan, but just thought id let you know, to myself your prices are pretty fair, i wouldnt alter them lower just to try and sell them, and im sure is there are any ST collectors knocking about, they may drop on your items soon

    Hey manstomar,
I wanted an Amiga when I was younger but I was pretty poor back in them days. Gonna be listing tons more soon as we have a baby due within days and to be totally honest my collecting of stuff over the years has taken over our house. In a four bedroom house, two of those are full of my old retro stuff. My wife says I get obsessive when I have hobbies. The problem is this hobby has lasted for around 25 years lol.

It's entirely the fault of David Crane. Since he wrote Pitfall back in the early eighties I've been an addict.

I actually had an Atari St when i was a kid as well, although the only game i remember having on it was "Arkanoid 2."

I have an obssession with retro computers as well and the wife isnt happy: she was more unhappy when my lovely Amiga 500, (which I won on ebid from meddlingmonk,) turned up in the post the other day

So now i have, an amiga 500, a atari 2600, and a spectrum 128K. So any games for them and ill certainly have a look

Hi Lemrin, it's a really important question. I found myself asking exactly the same thing a few months back. I have some answers, I think, and a partial solution.

I can't keep going over the same ground on various different threads, haven't got the time, so I'll post up some info in the 'promote eBid/Ebid Stores' section of the forum later. Critisism would be appreciated!

Incidentally, I don't think the problem has anything to do with price.
