Thread: I am brand new to ebid.

  1. #1

Talking I am brand new to ebid.

I have been a member of ebid for about 2 hours or less and have listed my first 3 items for auction already.I plan to list a few more on different types of listings and see how it goes.
I have been selling on ebay for a few months with a decent level of sales actually but the fees are getting ridiculous, ebay makes more money out of my business than I do,so I hope this works better for me.
Can anyone who sells in both locations let me know how the traffic on here is compared to ebay in general.
Any other comparisons or tips would be more than welcome. Also, can I put slideshows on my listings on here?I tried it but it didn,t work, don,t know if its me or if its not allowed.
    Keep on Bidding!

I sell on both sites , obviously sales here are a lot slower than feepay.
But im happy with the sales levels on here, and if you have enough stock listing on here is free so all you can lose is your time spent listing.
As for slideshows im afraid im clueless in that department.

Welcome to ebid. yes you can have a slideshow, here's a link http://www.isdntek.com/tagbot/xsell_ebid.htm
Another unique selling tool on ebid is the ability to add youtube videos - very easy to do :0)
I don't list on ebay because it wouldn't make any business sence for the smaller value items i sell. There are quite a few help tips for succesful selling here. sorry don't have those links handy.

Welcome to eBid, to use the slideshow in your listings or about me page you will need to have the editor set to Plain Text/HTML or it will not work.

    Welcome to eBid!

One of the easiest things to help promote your sales, is to add a link (from your listings) to your Forum signature. As you can see, most of us have done this. That way, when you post on here, anyone can have a good old look and see what you're selling, and you may get more sales.

Just go to 'USER CP' at the left-hand top blue bar, and edit your signature, and put a link to you sales list. If you need any help, just ask, - we're all friendly on here!

Good luck with your sales, Simon.

    Hi Jules

    Welcome to eBid.

    Re. the 'link'.

First go to 'User CP' on the blue-bar, towards the top, left-hand side on the page, and 'click' it.

It will then open up some links. Click 'Edit Signature'. This will bring up a 'Preview' and an 'Edit Signature' box.

Then, in the 'Edit Signature' box, type in a line or two eg. 'Why not check out my auctions?'

Then highlight this text (select it, in fact) and click the icon with the 'world and the paperclip' on. This will then open another box, with 'http://' in. Copy the list of your auctions (eg. http://uk.four.ebid.net/perl/main.cg...itle=julesjems or whatever) into this new box, (remember to remove the 'http://' though, because it won't work if it's in there twice!). Then all you will need to do is click 'save signature' at the bottom, and that's all there is to it.

You can also add a linked picture to the bottom of your sig. Slightly more complex, but worth it . This is done as follows:-

On the same 'Edit signature' page, go towards the foot of the page to the 'Signature Picture' section. Upload a picture from your PC (use 'Browse' to find it on your hard drive or where ever it is stored, - remember that it must be the following: maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

Next, type the following in to the 'Edit Signature' box, - remove all the asterisks * though, and make the letters capitals! (I've had to put these in otherwise it wont show up correctly on this post, as it's HTML code.)

    *[s*igpic]**[/s*igpic]*

Highlight (select) this, click the 'globe and paperclip' icon again, and copy the link to your listings into the 'http://' box again.

Hope this helps! (It sounds more complex than it is!)

Pop back when you've done, and let us all see your 'Sig'

    Best wishes, Simon / rupert691.

I have been on here for 2 weeks and listed over 40 items. So many lookers, but no sales. I will be closing it down. I don't mind paying fees, but sales is important. I am not a fan of auctions. I like straight out listing and customers will buy. I have over 15000 items to sell. I am looking for a site where I can bring in about $3000.00 a month.
