Ah I see now, I thought the kids were out with their parents at the time. When I went to a Rock concert on saturday an all dayer. I knew 90% of the peeps there as it was invites only. And there was someone there to watch over the kids whilst the adults did their thing. But by the time it started to get dark I requested my son come with me & stay with me through the rest of the gig.

I am also concerned that if 1 beast was bitten by 1 infected midge, which is not indigenous to the UK, then the odds are in favour of more midges biting more than 1 beast
Oh dear I was right again!

I did not know of this incident before reading this.
And I am not going to express my opinion, as I do not want an argument with anyone.
Though it does look like some people enjoy a good argument lol !

Silvergoddess, I don't like arguments, but neither am I going to let someone rubbish my knowledge and information. I don't suffer fools gladly, especially when their "knowledge " comes from a Search Engine not real life and experience.

Actually there shouldnt be any arguments about this, we are all allowed to voice our opinions, without being harassed by others, we should therefor accept eachothers opinions whether we agree to it or not.
So silvergodess you voice your opinion

Despite that fact that the topic you are referring to comes from a completely different thread, I'll address your point.

You tabled the notion that the Blue tongue outbreak was caused by another leak from the Pirbright labs. I stated that the more likely scenario was the same one as already being suggested on the DEFRA website and involved midges being carried on the wind from Europe where they already have this disease.

So how, exactly, does it make YOU right, to now switch sides to my POV?

When they turned back the boy had disappeared. They pointed out where the boy had been when they saw him last, but the pseudo cops didn't even attempt a rescue. Those are facts from the Coroner's Court... or is that all lies and hearsay too?
Especially with the level of training you say you had, if you cannot see the dangers involved with untrained people jumping into murky water in a flooded mine shaft after a child who has been submerged for some time that they cannot see and have no real knowledge of where the boy is, then there is no point in continuing this conversation; I might as well be banging my head against a brick wall.

Personally I would have gone in after the children, job or no job

BUT the PCSOs were doing their job as they were instructed to do so,
they were not trained to go in the water and they radioed for assistance,
the fishermen may have pointed out where the boy went under, but they didn't see this for themselves so they did what they were instructed to do and radioed through for help
I do think that the PCSOs should have gone in the water but that is just my opinion because I would have gone in
ok call them jobsworths but they were doing their job
and do we know how long they had been in the job? they may be new recruits

Beryl, please stop calling them 'psuedo cops'
it implys that they are fake and pretending to be police officers
they are not 'cops' they are support officers...supporting the police, that is their role.
My husband is training to be a special constable atm and has 2 friends who are PCSOs, I know that they wouldn't like to be called that.

Police community support officers (PCSOs) are uniformed staff whose role is to support the work of police officers and work within their local community. Their role is to assist the police in areas that need a certain level of police presence, but not necessarily the expertise of a trained police officer. They free up some of the time police officers might spend on routine tasks or low-level crime issues, and provide a valuable service to the community.

Assistant Chief Constable Dave Thompson said...
"The initial call to police gave the wrong location. This was no-one's fault, as the lake is known by several different names locally and there are other similar lakes nearby.

"The PCSOs managed to establish the correct location and immediately informed the control room to ensure the emergency services were sent there.
"One PCSO cycled to the road to alert other emergency services as they headed to the scene, while the other remained at the lake.
"Again it is important to stress that Jordon had not been seen for some time before their arrival. The inquest established that, tragically, at the time of the PCSOs' arrival, Jordan was probably dead. "We do not encourage police and PCSOs to carry out this kind of underwater rescue. They are not trained in this type of rescue, which is fraught with danger."
Sadly, the poor boy was probably dead before the PCSOs got there.
I really do feel for his family at this sad time, I don't know how i'd cope if I lost one of my children

    RIP Jordon

Damian it was not a flooded mineshaft. It was a flooded quarry.
Inchworm, if you had met the 2 who patrol Egham, you would know why I, and the local Police, call them pseudocops.
The water would have been quite cold in May, and children have been warmed up and resuscitated after quite long periods under water. The colder the water, the better the chances of survival.
