The first time someone down the road blocked the sewer, all the furniture had to come out, and the carpet taken up. I never saw any point in putting the carpet or furniture back in there. It's too hot for comfort in the summer, and freezing in the winter. It now has a dartboard on the end wall, the chest freezer and tumble drier in it, and that's all.
OMG damn I thought it bad enough having a manhole cover near my back door. Out of interst why do you still live there, if youre in the countryside & all is quiet birds n stuff then fine. Ouch sounds diddy to me. Mind you in the days your haouse was built correct me if im wrong, but werent people supposed to be smaller & shorter back then or is that going back alot further

The cottage was tied to my husband's job. We had no choice. It was the one we were allocated. We were under the old contract that meant my husband had a roof over his head for life, and I get to keep it as his widow. They used to move pensioners to flats or bungalows, but the Merry Widows live on and on, and no pensioner's houses are left, so I got to stay in this one. I've been here almost 42 years now. The newer contract from 1990's didn't guarantee a house with the job, or pensioners housing.
There are 8 cottages, a farmhouse, and school here. A couple of bungalows up the hill a bit, and 4 houses up the other way. The village is over a mile away. We have a field at the back leading to a lake which is nice, but we only get 3 buses a day and last one back is 6 PM. No bus on Sunday. Cinderella does not go to the ball.. or Bingo, or the cinema. Taxi home from the nearest town is £10 .
Oh yes, I forgot. The house was built for midgets. To look out of the upstairs windows you have to be 5' or less. I'm 5'6" and all I can see is the concrete lintel above the window unless I stoop.
The bedroom ceilings slope to fit under the eaves too.

The ones we pick are way out in the country well not way out slight exageration there. But these are where the farmers are and yes we have permission to take as many cooking apples & blackberries as we want, my grandfather knows the farmers. SO minimal traffic ie just a couple cars & tractors.

The bylaws of the Park expressly forbid removing nuts, berries, fungi etc. It doesn't stop a public house a few miles away from here organising Funghi Collecting walks though. We should be able to get some for a change now they can't come in.
The best blackberries for pies grow in the corner of my garden, but there are loads of bushes in the hedgerows, which are good enough for jam or bramble jelly. That's my favourite. There have been no field mushrooms so far. The chestnuts are coming along, but the squirrels eat the hazelnuts before anyone else gets a look in. I don't break the bylaws. I'm not removing them from the Park.

LOL Jumble nah not stealing blackberries, my grandfather knows the farmer the land belongs to he also has some apple trees & is always happy to get shot of them, though I must admit as there hasnt been any rain recently the blackberries were a tad on the small size.

We have chestnut trees near our house, we havent tried any from there bit dubious as peeps walk their animals there & rarely clean up. SO not too keen on the idea.

Ok me not happy I cooked the last of the blackberry pie and took my son his piece into front room leaving mine on the kitchen side.......gone for a couple seconds literally. Walked back into the kitchen 3 flippin kittens muching into my piece of blackberry pie. The last damn bit I screamed at them they growled at me I was not a happy bunny. I threw them away well not threw but you get the jist of it, they came running back like damn savages. anyhow managed to chase them off they had big chunks hanging out their mouths and ran off, I started to clean some of the mess, only to end up chasing them to another part of kitchen then extension, trails of blackberry & apple pie left in their wake. Picked up my son's kitten she clawed and bit me, in my shock & surprise I threw her and she landed in the dirt tray (yes it was clean thanks for that) anyhow son walked in saw his kitten flying and laughed, he saw my bowl with no pie & only custard remaining. Aww he offered me his piece of pie. SO I said no its ok il have some of the blackerry tart we made. Damn savages I mean they do get fed ya know. I cant understand why the kittens eat eat & eat, theyre terrible anyone would think they were starving, cant wait till they start going out like our other cats be so damn nice when that happens they can stuff their faces at our local chinese & fish n chippie. Be less waste for the council to take il tell ya.
