The harm it does is when a buyer selects a catagory to look thru, For instance in Car Parts, You dont want to look tru hundreds of items that dont belong there to find what you are looking for or may be interested in. I dont want to look for Car Parts and see hundreds of listings for anything from Baby Diapers to a wheel chair. Its unfair to the potential buyer to have to sort thru the junk. NO One should be allowed to list in the wrong catagory just because of that. That was a big flaw of Ebays. And they should be eliminated by eBid.

But the seller will lose out in the end and not get their items seen by their target audience and miss sales. They will soon learn to be more carefull

I think you're missing the point. If there was no category discipline sellers could 'spam' every category with the same or similar items. There are no listing fees so there is no financial disincentive. You could put, for instance, computer cables in every single category without cost. Anybody might want one, right. You would probably increase your sales but if everybody did the same thing the poor old buyer would have a very poor browsing experience.

Have to agree that there should be some distinction between a -3 feedback suspension and one for a listing misdemeanour.
I was suspended a long time ago for a listing violation (e-books) which was sorted out PDQ (once I discovered what rule I had broken) but I have a good feedback record.

A -3 is generally for bad customer/seller dealings and that reflects rightly or wrongly directly upon eBid as a whole.

Three strikes and your out should mean just that. All listings should be removed from the main site. The suspended member should be notified and if the feedback score is proved to be unjustified immediately reinstated.
