    Hi hunni *waves*

Julie (off Auntys) has a brilliant camera, detail is absolutely superb
you should ask her to show you some pics
(she did post some on a fred on there tho)
think she said it was an olympus 400 SLR i think
but is pricey.... £349 atm in currys (altho that is with £200 off atm)

other than that, i'm no help, sorry

    good luck hun xx

Ri, you don't need to spend over £300 - just bought son a panasonic compact which will do what you want for just under £300. He specifically asked for something good with closeups as he takes pics of his wargames figures. An SLR is also not needed for this sort of work as you can just take another one if the item is not lined up right in the frame (or crop it later)

Funny enough I've been reading similar things today myself Madelaine

I'm going to do what a friend advised in the first place and go to Jessops and ask one of the fellas in there for advice based on my requirements and abilities.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I hope this helps as last year I was looking for a new camera and after a month of looking at reviews on various sites I ended up choosing a Canon Powershot A540 and I have found it to be a great camera.

It lets you do close ups, dark room shots and moving shots as well as a lot more.

It retails at around £240 but I got one from the other side for around £120 (there were none on sale here).

It has even survived my 2 year old throwing it and sticking his finger in the lens.

If you have a look at auction number: 1183674262-28163-0 it shows how good it is at close up.

    Hope that helps.

    thanks for that it's appreciated.

thing is I really want to go closer than that if I can

That's an example of how close I can get at the moment - I want to get even closer than that - e.g. jewellery

Ri definitely pop in to Jessops.... i went in told them my budget what i was after etc.. they gave honest advice even advised me to get something that was cheaper than what i wanted.. so not out to money grab. I went for a digital SLR and their advice was great.

That wasnt just one store either.. i went in to the local one initially for the camera, and then bought a zoom lense down in a store in Cornwall and they were just as helpful
