Default Looking for help with preparing a posting for MSE

With the MSE board mods support i've started a thread on moneysavingsexpert.com titled Selling your stuff on EBID. advice for new sellers .

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...17#post5541317

Those of you who use MSE might have seen a similar thread for Amazon. MSE.com is not about promoting sites, so this is not a promotional thread, it's a thread to help sellers use EBID succesfully, so they'll want to know what's good AND what the pitfalls are. I intend to edit the opening posting (which is the one posting most casual visitors will look at) so that it gives as much useful information as possible, in as impartial and factual way as possible. I has intended using the info from EBIDs help pages, but for this purpose the wording doesn't really work

the kind of topics i'd like to cover are:
    Registration and upgrading issues
Gaining buyer confidence. setting up a good 'about me' page
Selling- how easy is it to list, tips on templates etc..
Selling - using the bulk uploader
    Selling, strategies
Selling- what's allowed and what's not!
Feedback issues ( including features like the ability to edit feedback)
Payment methods accepted- including google checkout and pppay
    EBID security measures

The second posting on the thread is for FAQs,

If anyone can help me collate good info for the thread, please either post info, links, advice here, or PM me.

PS. I'm very prone to making spelling mistakes and typos- so proof readers also welcome!

Contributions from EBID sellers with advice to give are welcome, however a word of caution, the MSE forums can be quite challenging!
So far ( at the time of writing) the thread on MSE is positive, however because of the type of consumer site MSE is, (and knowing there are some users who are not ebid fans) it is inevitable there will be negative posts. I've made a mental note to myself to grow thicker skin and not rise to any bait.

    Hi Val,
I wrote a long post in reply to yours and then deleted it by mistake! So am re-wrting this again. Thanks for starting the thread on MSE - your post is fair, balanced, informative and perfectly phrased. Like you said, the tone of the thread should be discursive rather than sugar-glazed, highlighting the merits as well as the weak areas of Ebid.

Am thinking about your list. Not keen to post there again though, for fear of being jumped upon! :-) Maybe braver souls will dare to venture a post there.

Regarding bulk listing - Ebid doesn't have a "turbo-lister" type of bulk lister, but it does have the EXPORT LISTINGS function whereby current, closed listings can be exported directly to Excel or Open Office. It can also be used to revise listings in bulk and then used to repost them. This direct exporting of listings to Excel seems to be unique to Ebid. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on Ebay I believe you can only do it via TL.

Payment methods accepted are google checkout, moneybookers, pppay, BACS bank transfers, cheques, Postal Orders. For platinum memberships, Paypal, PPPay are integrated. PPPay is Ebid's official payment partner.

Not quite sure if this is the kind of info you're looking for us to contribute?

And I'm sure I saw a FAQ thread on here somewhere. If anyone can point to it?

Hi artlandish. This is great info keep it coming!

I'm glad you're contributing, because it was your ( and rabbits) polite but persistant efforts on the earlier thread that paved the way for this one.

jgmcarmods' chart is worth putting up - or a link to it - explains a lot at a glance. Also some of the info on the Ebid Help pages has not been updated, but that chart is up-to-date.

Hi Val, will the board guides allow you to put it as a sticky so that it stays at the top?

The well established Amazon thread doesn't have a sticky, so i don't think we could make a case for the ebid one.
I will be editing and updating the first couple of posts regularly for the next few... probably weeks! so if the thread looks like it's disappearing, i'll think of something relevant to post.

Thanks again to jgmcarmods for having made fees table in useful .gif format
