Bounce Ideas around on HOW to promote EBID

Err exactly when did we go OFF topic?

The purpose of this thread is to bounce ideas about how we ourselves as buyers, sellers or members of eBid can promote or help raise awareness of eBid (whether that be entirely on our own or with the help of site management). So things like YDC charity auctions, MySpace, dooyoo, newsletters, links to free advertising, monthly competitions etc..

Before you all start brainstorming for ideas on how to bring in buyers have you considered the possibility the buyers ARE out there but that there arent enough sellers offering a wide enough variety of items for them? I have always said ebid needs more sellers...... i consider myself a buyer although i buy very little on ebid, 99% of the time its because what i want isnt on here so i have to go elsewhere. I ALWAYS look here first though.

Whilst I absolutely agree with what you have said above it has already been done to death and is a vicious circle imo (sellers list for a while, don't sell and give up due to 'no buyers' and buyers come in, take a look and leave due to 'no sellers').

eBid now has over 500000 items for sale in many different categories so although we could do with another 10, 20 or 50 times that number of listings there is a lot of choice on here and often (hopefully) at a better price than other sites. Add to that yahoo closing down their US auctions I think it's a ideal time to think of ideas to help raise awareness of this site.

So, yes we do need many more sellers on eBid but we also need to see some light at the end of the tunnel for us sellers who are already on here

Personnally I think its all about publicity! The more sites etc that we advertise on the more people will come (at least take a peek) Sellers and Buyers!
Lets face it How many of us Have come as Sellers and eneded up buying something? Goes hand in hand..

Theres been a few Ideas but not too much!

We should take the ideas and have a voting thread at the end? to see which we should implement and which are stupid!

I'M STILL DISAPPOINTED BY THE LACK OF STUFF COMMING FROM G&M.... Come on boys Hpw much does it take to produce a 1,000 Pens etc! One which ALL of the working sellers can Accidently Leave on someone elses desk etc etc...

Or how about a Memo pad with Items that have sold on Ebid in the past?

Or a Calendar? (not for June though!..(perhaps Gothiina would like to work on that one!) For next year. Thats another thing to Leave at work!

These are Cheap simple Advertising methods But it HAS to come from the TOP!

Yes Stands cost money But I know You can share stands etc?

COME ON! GET OUT THERE! We are not going to do this just by sitting in front of our Computers!

I dont as I think its messy! I need something nice to go in my email at the bottom! And I am no good at html! Again this is down to G&M.

The point being A stupid idea Might trigger someone else's Brain and turn it into a good idea...Its the way ALL BIG companys work.

My daughter, who I have persuaded to join Ebid, still calls it Ebay! saying ' well you know what I mean'.....

Ebid is a bit non-descript....doesn't really do it any justice...why not change the name to FREEBAY!

That would really put the cat among the pidgeons hey Red?

It's the perfect name for the opposition party to Ebay....

Because that is most likely to start a legal case resulting in Feebay killing eBid completely.

I have to agree with this! It's one of the FIRST things I would do.......ReInvent the Brand I think its called...

Reason....Because ebid has been around so long MANY people includeing myself Looked at it 5-6-7 years ago and tried it for awhile but Found It kept crashing and ALL the other problems the site had THEN! BUT Of course that's the Impression I had upto about 7 months ago when I DID get fed up with Feebay (My £700 Bill did it!) So I gave it another try...and HereI am! BUT otehrs Might not have got to this stage..

Also Is the EBID brand Really working that well? Its been around a long time as you say But so has my Ex company D.R.Harris (for Over 220 years) and they are still just ONE SHOP! Point taken!

To me there seems to be a LACK of AMBITION at the TOP..Oh I wish I was a shareholder!
