Most of the time I can't work out what the flippin' charges should be. So I take my stuff to three different post offices and they all come up with different prices. If they can't work out what the charges are meant to be, what hope have we got?

I actually Can work out the new system and it cost me £200...I used to put my watches into small boxes and that cost the customer £1.50ish each to post (recorded) Which was classed as Small packet rate...so I went to an old contact from a packaging firm and Told them my requirements So I had 2,000 boxes made up to fit the Large letter rate (worked out at 20p each) And so save Nearly 40p each time I post a watch now....AND When I was still working the Newer rates worked cheaper on the Bigger parcels then the smaller stuff.

IN conclusion I was NOT happy at first BUT acted Quickly and Am NOW HAPPY!

Even the lady in my local P.Office said when it was introduced..'this is targeting all the Ebayers'...'they realise there is a good profit to be made from them'.....
...and yes, of course it has made a difference...but the buyers don't really appreciate just how much.
I sell jewellery...and a packet, depending on weight alone, would normally post for a first class stamp...maybe three, four or even five brooches...but now that the size has come into it...a bangle for instance will cost £1.00 to post because of the depth....
.....so in this case (as always) size matters :-)

not getting the mail any quicker, its more work for post office workers, dearer for consumer, so what was it all in aid of? compensating for their losses last couple years? another example of putting prices up for stuff / services we can't do without and can't do anything about

some consolation though especially for booksellers and the like - 2nd class max is up to 1kg as opposed to the 750g before so that helps

I would have thought with the increase in stuff being sold online and consequent increase in items posted they should be doing better.
