    Default ..When in Rome...blah,blah..

I think this really sums it all up. Pity we can't write it in letters

three miles high and project it into the sky over every city in ENGLAND!

    Whilst it still is England.

After hearing that many cities did not want to offend other cultures by

putting up Xmas lights, so they DIDN'T!

After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a

Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face

    covered.

After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that

for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa, Birmingham,

West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others !

This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen. Published in a

    British tabloid newspaper.

    IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITONS, MUST ADAPT.

    Take It Or Leave It.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some

individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London, we

have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits.

However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the "politically

correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism

    is offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is

seeking a better life by coming to Britain. However, there are a few

things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently

some born here, need to understand.

This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served

only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we

have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own

lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of wars,

struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men and

women who laid down their lives and one of the millions of men and women

    who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,

Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of

our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our National Motto.

This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this

motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded

this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate

to display it on the walls of our schools.

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world

as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If St. George's

cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should

seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really

don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY,

OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to

    enjoy all this.

But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag,

Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you

take advantage of one other great British freedom,

    "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".

If you aren't happy here then P*** OFF! We didn't force you to come here.

You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy

really, when you think about it. I figure if we all keep passing this to

our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the

    complainers, lets all try, please.

I know loads of retired ENGLISH people who have moved to SPAIN and CANNOT SPEAK SPANISH. So are they not part of their society either? Should they be sent packing back from where they came from?

....NO!..they are not part of their society and if they don't make any attempt to be so and become a drain on the Spanish economy....they should be .

If they are not trying to learn to speak Spanish, then shame on them. If they refuse to fit in then maybe they should be sent packing. If they try to change the Spanish way of life, or thinking into English then they shouldn't have gone there to live in the first place.

I happen to agree with the original posting, i have no problem with any law-abiding people coming here but they should learn how to adapt to our ways & our laws, when i go to any other country, i learn enough of the language to be able to give respect, i also have to abide by their laws.

No, alot cant speak spanish but from all the expats I know [and I belong to several expat forums and klnow several brits that DO live abroad] they do not whinge, moan or criticise their new countries cultures or beliefs and just to end this discussion most of the people I know that have moved to spain for exactly the reasons mel has outlined in his original post are actually taking lessons or took lessons before leaving the UK!

Just one other point we [I speak for the majority of brits here, I think] are not griping about the fact they cant speak our language but more so the other pointers that have been highlighted and I for one agree with his post hence the reason I am looking to buy abroad myself

I agree with the sentiments expressed.
I'm sick of this political correctness and civil liberties crap...it's ruined this country...we can't wear an England football shirt and we can't fly a St. George flag...WHAT??...there are a lot of mad people roaming about lately.
It's only a small island and we can't allow the population to increase as it is doing, both space-wise and financial-support wise. Anyone still got a dentist?...
No wonder more people want to get out.I would like to emigrate and I speak French and some Spanish and would expect and look forward to integrating into the place I went to.

...and well-done to the Dutch government...

The opening post is written in a harsh tone, no frills opinion.

HOWEVER ... If you stop and read it CAREFULLY there is nothing RACIST in the content , it is a sencible , well thought out responce to a growing concern.

I am not a hard right , doc martin wearing , flag waving , race hating Trouble maker ... im just plain old me and i try to see everyones point of view in any given situation.

In this instance i find the manner a little brash but the message is fair enough.

Once upon a time i swore to see my days out , as i have thus far, never leaving the UK , more through fear of flying or sailing than the encountering of other peoples ( as id love to see the world ) But , fear to hell because in recent years i have dreamed more and more of living abroad some where ... now, i dont know if immigration has anything to do with the complete and utter MESS that the UK has become, England more especially as i dont have the facts and figures at my disposal but i do know that i dont like what i see around me and being a pesimist doesnt help matters im sure.

I embrace all religions and races and have no problem with anyone UNTIL they give me reason to.

If and when i do ever get the opertunity to move abroad i shall 100% make sure i can speak the language so as not to put strain on their people or their society, i would be GREATFUL to them for taking me in and i would want to benefit their people and community ( whom ever they where ) as a THANK YOU , not burden them and abuse them.

That imo is the begining and end of all of this.

YES ... When in rome 100% here or elsewhere , and if you can not ... i question your motives and decency as a human being. RULES are not for breaking, they are there for a reason. ABIDE BY THEM or WE ALL repent at OUR leisure.

    HAVE A NICE WEEKEND all x x x
