Inevitable really. If you make a career of putting yourself in harm's way, eventually your luck is going to run out.

Slightly ironic though that of all the really dangerous beasties he'd been near in his time, it was one with no reputation for being a killer that got him.

Very true, but you must admit he was brilliant at what he did, great entertainer, he will be missed, especially his family,I saw his father on TV so upset he was crying, I really feel for them.

Got to feel sorry for his daughter (Bindy, Mindy?). He was filming a piece for her show when he died and she's more than likely to blame herself.

A great shame because he did a lot for conservation, a real extovert who inspired people with his enthusiasm. Thoughts and prayers must be with his family who will be devastated.

    I agree with the above.

I have to admit that for a long time I thought he was just a wreckless idiot out to find fame, but then I saw a programme about him and an interview with him and realised that this was his way of making folk aware of things and helping with conservation.

I hadn't realised that he was a proper conservationist and really knew what he was talking about untill I saw that programme.

My grandson is going to be gutted when he hears the news.

That explains the image I received in an e-mail this morning.

I didn't get it at the time, as I hadn't heard about this.

He will indeed be missed. I enjoyed watching the Croc Hunter diaries.

    RIP Steve,

God, you have a 1 in a million chance of getting stung by a stingray and when someone does, especially with the expertise of Steve Irwin, they die.

He will be sadly missed. He made heart pounding programmes, but he will surely live on in the hearts of others for many years to come.

    RIP Steve
