Thread: What we can and can not do here?

Default What we can and can not do here?

    Hiya,
This is more of a question to the members who have been here a while in particular ones that know how the other site works as well.
Obviously everyones noticed that there has been a bit of an exodus here since yesterday, so does anyone have any tips for this site.
I'm sure there are a few new members here who have used the other site for a while so are pretty clued up with how the other system works, but i am sure there are quite a few different rules, and other things that are different here.

To kind of get the ball rolling, a couple of quick questions......

Are we allowed to link to our feedback on the other site? This could give buyers that extra little bit of confidence here for the new sellers that have just turned up, and if so can it be within the auction, or a signiture here, or on our members page?

Are we allowed to link to our websites?

Which method have people found it best to list?

Is gold membership really worth it and if so is it best to pay weekley, monthly or lifetime etc?

Is pppay worth signing up for, and if so when you sell an item here, does ebid have a checkout facility like the other site?

Is there a non pay bidders system in force here? I'm sure i have read somwhere on the site that there is and if a buyer gets two unpaid item strikes they get kicked off.

Oh well lets look forward to another day of looking at new options of making a living!

    Hi and welcome to ebid

You'll find all the rules here:

    http://uk.ebid.net/help_main.php

You can link to your feedback from the other side - just use

    http://www.feedbacksite.com

and add a link to your listings and/or your my All About page.

Each person is different, however, I have found it best to place a listing for one item (don't like dutch auctions as you cannot leave or receive feedback until the entire auction is finished) for 10 days with 10 auto reposts.

Note - you are not allowed to list multiples of the same item - you'll find your account suspended

You can put anything you want on your my All About page - including links to your website.

I think gold membership is worth it as you can use the gallery listing option and the free auctions, which only gold members have access to.

Lifetime membership is the most cost effective in the long run. I, however, pay every quarter.

People are in two minds about PPPay - I have not had a problem with it though. Just bear in mind that you need to verify your PPPay account and anyone sending you money has to have a verified account or you cannot access the money. So if you do decide to accept PPPay it may be an idea to stipulate that it is for verified account holders only. PPPay does have a checkout the same as Paypal - the link is sent to every winning buyer in an email from ebid.

There is a non paying buyer system in place. You need to send them 3 payment requests via the link given within the auction that they bid on, there has to be 24 hours between each reminder. Once you have done that and they still haven't paid you leave them negative feedback and send an email to support@ebid.tv with details of the auction, confirm that you have left negative feedback and request a refund of your fees. If a buyer has 2 consecutive non-paying strikes their account becomes suspended.

"Note - you are not allowed to list multiples of the same item - you'll find your account suspended". Can I just clarify that point, as it could be read in two different ways - you can't have two (or more) different auctions for exactly the same item. (Otherwise, with free auctions, a more unscrupulous seller might list the same thing ten times to get people's attention! This isn't Ebay!)

I would go for Gold membership, as it pays for itself in a matter of weeks if you list a lot of items (just compare it to a week's Ebay fees!)

I've found PPPay.com to be very good, and I recommend offering PPPay.com escrow if you're new and have zero feedback - that way buyers know you are trustworthy, and they don't have to risk losing their money, because it's kept safe in escrow.
