Default Did anyone see the NEW UPDATE

" UPDATE - Advanced Image Uploader replaced with "Image Upload Widget" with rotation and cropping facilities for new images "

It looks like with NEW listings that the picture can be CROPPED and ROTATED.

    YEAH!

But the old ones remain the same - if I understand the update right.

    Thanks Gazza !

Yes, it seemed to come online just as I was listing, confused the life out of me (though it doesn't take a lot at my age...) though I was going senile, but I got there in the end... Jury's out at the moment on it, have to make some more listings before I fully decide...

I have quickly tried this out tonight but the first major flaw I found that there is a limit of only 20 pictures allowed into the gallery at a time. that is ridiculous. If changes are being made, it would be so beneficial to be able to to choose more than 1 image at a time to insert into the listing.

I tried this for four new lots with one scan of the 4 items and used the new cropping tool to make 4 pics one for each listing. But....

I had to upload main picture and edit separately four times.

The results were a large picture in the main listing on the left, but when you click on it to view better, each resulted in a small picture in center of the screen. Some form of resolution issue saving in the new editor!!!.

So I will still crop and save using a laptop picture editor and upload the four files at once, least that will result in a larger image when you click the picture to view from the main listing.

Out of interest, how many images would be sufficient to upload in a single hit? How many were you used to uploading via the old "Advanced Uploader"?

    Thanks,
    Gazza

Not quite sure how many images would be sufficient, but this is my current method.

Local environment - Out of one scan containing multiple items usually between 8 and 12, crop and save each image.

eBid- Upload the images in one hit using the old advanced upload, then get on with creating the listings selecting the appropriate image from the first page of My Gallery.

As I stated the cropped image using the new widget resulted in a small image displayed when the larger image in the main listing was clicked.
This would be problematic in trying to create a more detailed (zoom-in) area of the picture.

I will be trying out the new widget with unprocessed single image items and then using new widget cropping to remove excess noise like table surfaces & background. Will report back.

Hi Gazza, on the old system I typicaly upload 12pics for a single listing at one go. But, I have been known to upload 20 pics and use the ones I like best for that one listing.

To get a fair description and show defects you do need to put up quite a few pictures for a listing

Crop and rotate are not that great a help as most basic picture editors can do this before you upload and add brightness contrast tilt, distortion, etc, as well.

Not used the new system yet, will be using it in September.

Loadimg one pic at a time would add many minuites to any upload and typically I will list thirty items in one day with an average of say 10 pic's per listing, this will take forever.

Please do just mirror the old system and add any improvements you like, but please, please do not make adding pics to a listing much more difficult for some marginal benefit

To carry on the thread concerning the amount of images, I normally upload 30 -40 images as well, so the new limit of 20 is annoying and will be time consuming to repeat the process. I sell postcards etc which entails front and back. is it possible to allow for 2 images on the same click from the gallery into the listing, rather than the present system of 2 clicks.

Hi Robbie, still trying to understand the situation.

So you are uploading 8 - 12 single images in one go?

Are you cropping them again via the widget's edit button?

The new widget should work exactly the same as the old advanced uploaded, it will take the image you add to it and upload it, there is no need to crop images within the widget if you don't want to.

Do you have any listing IDs I can look at to see the problem.

    Thanks,
    Gazza

These resulted in smaller pictures cropped in new widget. The original multi-item picture was downloaded from MyGallery for upload into the new widget.

    230993090
    230993089
    230993080
    230993075

These are ids with the normal response when the picture in the listing is clicked which was just uploaded the old way.
