The number of photos was increased a few(?) years ago, I can't remember how many we were allowed before, but definitely less than 15.

It does depend on what you're selling, particularly with s/h goods and collectables. I sell collectable vintage glass and quite a few of my older listings I remember using 5 or 6 photos, front, side, top, bottom and a couple more close-up if there was a chip or two.

I did pay for extras when I was selling (say) a flower bowl with it's stand and a stem-holder insert. All made of glass and where the buyer would expect 4/5/6 photos of each piece to get a decent idea of its condition.

Since the number of free photos was increased I haven't had to pay for any extras at all.

carsteve10 I decided to just pay it manually to be on the safe side.

I’m surprised you need to pay the 50p just yet. I thought they didn’t take payment until it was over £1. I must have misread that too.

They seem to have worded the various places differently and i do not want to end up with a bad mark if i am supposed to have pressed the magic pay button myself!! (must admit that i did not realise that i had done anything to get fees but you live and learn and hopefully i have sorted that out now). As i appear to be having no luck on this site i am trying a few items on V as well, not that i want that kind of postage system but will see how it works.
My fees are taken straight from my bank account.

thanks for that, it was 6p last month and i did not have to pay that but this month it was 44p so i just assumed that they started taking it at 50p. As usual with these sites so many things are not clear when starting out. Took me a while when i started e bay and will probably be the same on V, at least it has not taken me years to find the forum on here!!!

I sell many different types of vintage locks, sometimes 15 photos is just enough to show everything from every angle to all the important measurements a buyer may need to help them make an well informed decision whether to buy my lock or not.

Then sometimes I get locks where 15 photos just aren't enough to show all the measurements for that particular lock, so more photos are then needed to fulfil this, hence having the option to be able to pay and add another couple of photos (up to 20 total per listing) is really helpful.

So this is why more than 15 photos might be needed sometimes and this is probably why eBid generously give all platinum members the useful option of being able to upload more photos then the standard 15 on their listings if they need it.

If you give us a link (or a title) for one of your listings where you feel more than 15 are required, then the rest of us, all obviously well qualified to know everything relevant about collectible vintage locks (and photography, and marketing) can pile in and give suggestions on how to reorganise it!

Though I suspect the contributions will amount to:

Call photo 7 A and photo 10 B. Now load A and B into your favourite photo editor (mine is Gimp) and make a single photo with A and B side by side. Delete photos 7 and 10, upload and add your new composite.

    Thanks for that John.

I think I'll pass on that if that's alright.

Turns out moving to PayPal micropayments isn’t as simple as I thought. After being sent round in circles with 5 CS reps it seems I just got lied to in the end as nothing got actioned. I’ve given up on it for now, I’m not wasting another hour on the phone with them.

    Sorry to hear this SP,

I don't blame you for giving up on them... Sounds like a headache !

In hindsight I was passed from person to person as nobody had a clue. The number of times I had to explain what the micropayments rate meant was driving me up the wall.

I didn’t want to say this as I’m not here to moan about things on eBid but I removed 28 stamp lots and put them on Vinted. A single buyer there has just paid short of £40 for all 28 lots. I may have got lucky there but I’m finding eBid hard, I haven’t earned my stripes and got those repeat buyers locked in I know that, but I feel like my account is just drifting.
