I started to list in Vinted’s collectible categories and have made sales of vintage jewellery and coins.

I have a Vinted Pro account there, the conspiracy theory from the business sellers is that we get our visibility suppressed but I make daily sales when I put the time into it. I have just sold a Gant shirt today and moved a lot of leather jackets on in the past few weeks at fair prices. I don’t do big numbers but Vinted is useful for sellers like me, I have sold things there that wouldn’t sell on eBay with a high promoted listings rate. The main problem is once the new item visibility boost dies down, after a couple of weeks the listings can fall into a black hole and go forever unsold.

    Hello there goldenwonders.

So sorry for the delay in responding back to you, as I've just seen your post this moment !

Thanks for such a great and informative post. You are quite right that I'm have a lot specialist stuff that most people who come here wouldn't think of searching for due to lack off such buyers who need stuff like old locks and niche items.

Like you, I have also been on here a long time (since April 2006) and I have been on eBay since November 2004, I did take interest in eBid when I first joined but could never find anything to buy as old post cards and comics are not my thing and I have no interest in collecting old stamps or coins so that's why I sort of forgot about eBid for all these years and just remained most of the time on eBay as they had a wealth of vintage locks and old electrical items, like old power tools and other practical items which when I attempted to search eBid for back in 2006 it said "No results found" for old power tools.

Now here in July of 2025 it seems slightly better as there are now more practical items for sale on eBid compared to what it was like in 2006 !... but we're still not there yet which is disappointing now, especially with lots of unhappy folks now quitting eBay and selling elsewhere like here (eBid) and Vinted.

I guess my expectations and hopes may have been a bit too high that I would do well on here bringing all these lovely hard to find antique locks to this site and hopefully attracting more people to drop in to eBid and buy my stuff !... but sadly I was just being a little too over enthusiastic and that it doesn't quite work like that.

I know now that sellers on here have to do all the legwork of promoting/advertising their listings and fend for themselves if there is any chance of making any use from this platform, as most people on eBid are not really into buying old locks or niche items !

Thanks for your point of view as another long eBid member - Very interesting read indeed.

    Never heard of Vinted.
I was looking at the site. - Interesting
Then I started to research reviews for Vinted.
Seems that customer support is non-existent.
Really not sure if I would even try Vinted - taking in the reviews / complaints and such.

US Sold items on the Home Page :

What I noticed a couple years ago, that items sold were coins, stamps and ACEO art cards.
Then through the year was train related items, clothing
Now there is a nice variety of items of Coins, stamps, Trains, Refrigerant and Autographed photos

    Hi SCcoins,

Interesting post, I am also pondering with the idea of listing stuff on my Vinted account, but do not like how, (like eBay), they won't allow an Royal Mail Special Delivery option to be used within the platform and if you use it without going through Vinted, you then have to rely on buyers being decent and honest and marking your items as "received" to get your money released, as Vinted use the same horrible delayed payments model as eBay which I really don't like !

I have also read that pro-Vinted sellers have to wait 14 days to be paid whilst ordinary no pro members receive quicker payments if or when their buyers mark items as received and leave feedback so this is somewhat off putting, but I do see stuff I save in my favourites go flying very quickly !!! - I wish our sales on eBid were like this !

The reviews are bad and there is very little accessible support if something goes wrong but I’ve sold around 400 items. That includes a lot of multi buys (buyers seem to bundle at lot more there) so my feedback is 277, all 5*. I have never been scammed or really had any problem with a buyer that I can recall, people there seem fairly relaxed.

As a non-pro seller basically if your buyer receives the item and doesn’t confirm everything is ok, you wait 2 days and then get paid. That happens a fair bit, after a while you just get used to it. As a pro seller I have to wait 14 days after confirmed delivery so it tends to be about 18 days for me, a nightmare for cash flow but you wouldn’t be affected by that it’s just a pro seller issue that we moan about between ourselves… tbh it isn’t really geared up for businesses we don’t have the tools to expand on there and it seems that is the way they like to keep it, so that’s fair enough.

Regarding the postage, I have all options turned on. I’ll be honest I get anxiety when someone buys a vinyl record and uses Yodel or InPost to save money, I just package it double thickness than normal and it has always been fine. In general, I have had to be hands off with this and I’m glad I have been, if you just go with the flow and let buyers choose what they want they seem to buy more. If you restrict them to Royal Mail only, they may walk away from sale as they want to choose click and collect from the location they find easiest.

If I were you I’d just cross list the locks everywhere, it’s unlikely you will be caught out with a sale of the same item on 2 platforms before you can react.

Back to eBid, I’m determined to sell something on here just to scratch that itch 😅. I have some things in storage that I will dig out and try out here.

    @ SCcoins,

    Just catching up...

Yeah, My mum sort of influenced me to join the V site, Whilst it's been pretty good (my mum's been buying all the handbags and necklaces off there lol), I have bought many Adidas hoodies for amazing money !... I mean who doesn't want a £50 hoodie for under £10 !!!

Saying that, we have also encountered some idiots on there too, these are the people who list something for sale and when you buy it, they simply don't send the item or respond to any messages... thankfully Vinted has a time limit where sellers have to send the order within 7 days and upload a valid tracking number as proof of dispatch otherwise the system will simply auto refund on the 8th day (this is a good failsafe as you don't need to do anything as a buyer) they will just refund straight back to your original payment method and the money will be back within 2-5 working days.

Then they are the sellers who sell so many items that they then mix them up whilst getting them ready to post (or for EVRI or Royal Mail to collect) This then turns sour when my mum opens the plastic bag expecting to see a coat that she's been waiting patiently for all week... only for it to be someone's pajamas !!! and for her to freak out !!! LOL ! - Clicking on "I have an issue" - just takes you to the seller for you to work with them to sort it out... but last week we had one b**ch that had sent us a floral dress instead of a silver jacket my mum had bought, I sent her a nice message with some pics to explain the situation but she refused point blank to help and was very rude/aggressive, so the following day before the 48 hours was up (as Vinted only allow you 48 hours to open a case), I opened a case with customer support and escalated it !.... they (Vinted) got back to me promptly saying thank you for raising a case regarding silver colour jacket size 16 XXL, We are currently investigating the issue and we will make a decision within 48 hours, 96 hours now passed and everything was quiet... So I sent Vinted support another polite message asking them if they were going to honour our buyer protection which we had paid them for ?... about an hour later they replied back to me saying that we asked the seller to provide you with a return's label within 48 hours and they failed to do this, so we have now decided in your favour, We have now issued a full refund for transaction "silver colour jacket size 16 XXL", You will receive a full refund of £11.69 to your original payment source by 17th July 2025.

This was then followed by; "We are so sorry that this transaction didn't work out for you. We hope your next transactions will go more smoothly. Have fun shopping on Vinted! The Vinted Team."

So that was pretty dramatic but they did honour their buyer protection and help my mum get her money back on a transaction that went wrong where the seller refused to co-operate and send us a return's label for her mistake !

Back to eBid, I think buyer protection and reassurance plays a big part as to whether people trust into a site to make their purchases on that site... eBay have seen this and have adopted the same buyer protection scenario to get buyers to feel more confident on there.

Yes, Stick some stuff on here and let's see if you get any joy ! - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you sell something !

    Hi Policequilts,

So sorry I missed your posts yesterday.

Yeah that V site is very interesting as it seems to yield fast sales results and a good income for many... The only down side is limited postage options which they allow you to use and delayed payments (not as bad as eBay but not ideal either if you need the money urgently to pay a bill etc)

I just can't understand why everyone online seems to go to Vinted and eBay... Only it seems because of the aggressive advertising campaigns they seem to be doing online and on telly... here at eBid we have a great user friendly selling platform which is somehow buried alive online and very underrated - most people who did discover eBid years ago simply dismissed it as a card and stamp site and moved on to other places to buy and sell on... It is only now since all the bad changes on eBay that desperate people like myself have now come back to eBid to give buying and selling on here another go...

I did pay the £69.00 for eBid platinum membership in April this year (2025) in good faith believing I would do well on here with my antique and hard to find locks but now I'm not so sure as I automatically assumed that this place was like eBay where they have a certain degree of exposure online and people searching online Google for old locks for their homes would see my stuff on Google and head for eBid to checkout and maybe purchase something...

I would like to know whether there is an agency online where I could pay a small fee and register the link to my eBid store so that I can get more exposure online in order to make regular sales on here otherwise it now seems pointless as I am starting to lose heart with the weeks just rolling by and no sales at all on here

When I first joined eBid, I did the membership right off the bat.

I used eBid for 1 1/2 years and then shut down - NOT deleting my account, had paid membership.

I was then selling on eBay and finally gained some selling experience.

I did come back to eBid years later and started my different shops.
I am okay with this site and I do have my own website.

MY only problem is making ME to promote myself.
I have an Pinterest account and now BlueSky account.
MY problem is that I am not like everyone else that has a cellphone and is on the computer/or/cellphone.
For ME, I don't like the thought of living through the internet

When I get more free time, I need to see all the updates of Pinterest.
BlueSky, I have a problem posting pictures for some reason. I DO know that the last sale ($72) came from BlueSky.

It's foolish that people who join and get a membership get upset that they paid for membership.
Just keep the account and when they are ready to put some effort into this site, they can.
There are some many of you that have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and such can quick post " hey, I have this for sale on eBid ".

    Just my thoughts.

I need to go outside and get some work done. Too much time on the internet.
