Thread: Sales or no sales that is the question

Stores are one thing I got rid of since they just seem pointless right now. As a buyer how do I get to your store or even see a store in front of me???

I would like to see them get rid of the silly upgrade offer which they still haven't changed and maybe put it down the bottom left, then use that space to show random stores! some people have some good images for their stores BigKidsAttic being a great example
and if that image to the store was on the front page, it will be eye catching and easily clicked by visitors

Sales or no sales? It's the question ebay sellers are asking themselves too now! Just read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ebayuk/comm..._being_broken/

If you're a long term ebay seller like me, that truly is the situation over there and anywhere else has to be better. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned eBid on that thread. I don't have a Reddit account, else I would. Those forums aren't like ebay's own community forums, you can pretty much say what you like without fear of being banned.

I'll also be watching https://www.valueaddedresource.net/ for commentary the next time the CEO in America does the presentation to investors. He's going to need a power assisted spinning wheel.

    Hi John,

I know you from eBay !

As you know I've been selling vintage locks on eBay since 2007 with many great and happy buyers but from the winter of 2024 my nightmare began when eBay announced their new changes to payments and this new 'simple delivery' which is not simple at all but a real pain !

So eBay banned me permanently from their boards in February 2025 after I had been a good board member since 2010... this was because I told the truth about how awful their new changes are... As soon as they started delaying my payments I thought this is no good as I rely on the buyer's money to be able to use some of it to post their item without having to touch my bank account which I don't have much money there most of the time.

Since March 2025, I revived my eBid account which I've had since 2006 and started transferring all my eBay listings over bit by bit manually until they are all on eBid... I was so happy and hopeful to see a place that is like how eBay used to be where it is easy to list stuff and you can get paid instantly by PayPal which I love...

Only I've had my stuff up on eBid since March 2025 and so far I haven't made a single sale

It is promising that there are a decent amount of views on all of my 66 listings compared to eBay which was always 0-2 most of the time since they started their new seller hub and managed payments fiasco !

So I've been reading the eBid forums very carefully to try an work out why such a good user friendly selling site like eBid am I getting no buyers for any of my locks when before eBay messed up their site people were buying them like hot cakes and I was going up and down to the post office 3 times a week !

Apart from it's size and volume what else is different between eBid and eBay ?... How do eBay get so much traffic to their site and why can't eBid do more to boost their existence like eBay now does with their TV adverts etc ?

I did give Vinted a go and stuff sells very fast on there but they have the same horrible payment setup as eBay are now using where your buyer's money is held for many days until 2 days after the sold item had been delivered... but this does not work for me because I don't have a ton of 'reserve money' available to be able to buy postage upfront without the help of the buyer's money...

So what should I do ?... will this no sales issue ever improve on eBid ?... as I really like eBid a lot.

The big problem is that eBid do not advertise - at all, ever !

My only suggestion is that you put the eBid name out there whenever and however you can - that's what everybody else does.

There is a lot on the forums about slow sales.

(in fairness it is not all eBids fault. There is a general lack of money and people who know how to get off their phones and do practical things. For example the classic car parts market has collapsed)

Yes I have same problem and I have been thinking the same. Would be interested to know if anyone does make sales from this platform?

Well I have just bought a Unimat Lathe Part a sought after item at a fair price from Bittyboy101 for £35.99 plus £4.95 Royal Mail Postage.

Right item, right price, and he responded immediately to my question on the after sales log.

    A credit to eBid.

I do make sales, but it's on things that you cannot buy elsewhere.

Not sure how people manage where there is a plentiful supply on eBay

I have just checked out their Facebook page too and it does not get regular updates, the last post was from January! eBid needs to be seen. I do advertise them on my social media but if they are not even updating their own pages it will not get people seeing them. I would say eBid PLEASE hit social media hard yourself as we all want your site to do well!!
