Mind you I did have a couple of disappointing replies to my notes, asking if I'd move the items over to obay to save them the hassle of opening an account here. I did of course decline, expecting that they'd also expect the same price on obay although their fees were twice as much as here.

Ah the cheapskates.

If the potential customer is giving me hassle before they buy something ( and they have bothered to open an account ) I block them, otherwise there is a high chance of after-sale issues.

I do my best to sell good quality, hard to get stuff, at a fair price. If there is any quibbling, demands for discounts, requests for other postal or payment methods; then who wants the sale ? Somebody else, creating less problems, will buy it.

The 'deal' is not everything !

I think you're both right. Selling in a niche (and still having a good memory !) I would sometimes think "that address rings a bell" and would look back at my POPs from the P.O and yes, I'd posted to them before. But mostly there was no bell that rang. Two things that might have helped me.

1. I write my own labels with a biro, never bought them from obay.
2. Selling things like vases and bowls it's easy to put my notes inside the items where the buyer would find it hard to miss even if just wanted to bin it.

Yes, I put my notes in a book/magazine just sticking out as if a bookmark. And electronics, often the note is taped to or around the item. I doubt my buyers miss seeing the note. Though whether they read it, of course I've no idea. Though I like to think my buyers are at the smart end of the spectrum! They often have fascinating hobbies and certainly aren't buying Chinese throwaway fashion rubbish.

I don't think we're going backwards at at all. Although the number of shops has gone down by a mere 7, listing numbers for all the countries you're reporting have gone up. Yes, there might be some duplication but the trend is definitely Upwards.


Although shop numbers are one indicator they can't be taken in isolation. There are an unknown number of members, like myself, who don't need a shop at all but are still listing and probably a larger number who have opened their shop(s), possibly years ago(?), increasing stock in them but aren't opening any new ones.

Please don't let me put you off recording the weekly numbers, I think it's a great idea and you're doing a great job which should interest everyone who sells here.

Well, nobody else has bitten this hook, so I'll give it a try. Germans generally speak excellent English, so having their site in German is just a friendly gesture, a bit like the way we say Boro Da to the Welsh when they burn out holiday homes. The French, hmmm, the French really don't like speaking English. And we only speak to them in a joke accent, e.g. Boris or Churchill. So the French site is in English to remind them that English is the common language of the EU and they need to suck it up.

Canada? I've no idea. I'm surprised that in recent weeks the whole of Canada hasn't elected to speak French exclusively. While raising 'le middle digit' to DJT.

I won't claim these theories are well researched. Probably someone else has a better explanation?

I was supposing it was just a shorthand for 'Canadian French'. After all, that's hardly the same as French! Vive la difference!

Hi, I know this isn't probably the best thread But have just joined am about to open up my ebid stores ( so that is the legitimacy of posting here)
I have noticed that on a few sellers they have added about joint postage.


Notice from Seller : Pay only once for postage. The more cards you buy, the more money you save. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions


How is this added.? i can find no way of adding this to my listings.?

Oh and many other questions about how the ebid stores work, but i will take it one step at a time.

You can also offer discounts of multiples of the same item, see the form when you list an item


Invoicing

On one side you don't require immediate payment, so the buyer can order more goods before you invoice.

The disadvantage is the buyer buys but does not pay; then you will need to recover the final value fee chrge via the ebid support system.

Many thanks for your reply, there was info there that will help, But doesn't really answer it specifically.
My query Is How you get the extra text embeded into your ad.
It goes before the description page. But when you list there is no option for it
As in This section where the seller is on holiday... How do i use this box, and where is it on listing page. Thank you.
