Default How about stop with the ads all over???

Tired of every time I log in, I get this giant ad in my face blocking me from going anywhere. Not to mention ads all over the place. People dont want to go shop where ads blind them from the items they were looking for. The object is to keep people here to spend money, NOT SEND THEM OUTSIDE YOUR SITE TO SPEND THEIR MONEY!!!!!!!
Not sure how this site has lasted so long, havent sold a thing on here since I wasted my money signing on here but lessons learned I guess

If the ads give Ebid enough money to keep going, I can live with ads blocking the screen. Better than high fees.

I use a ad blocker - most people do that shop online

Wow, is that a new record?

Four days and knows all about the site, its accounts, its faults and how to fix them.

Perhaps you should have taken note before signing-up that Ebid doesn't come up to your standards and stayed where you were if it was so much better?

Also note the Recently Sold strip on the Home Page, sales every hour of every day. I wonder how they manage it??

But actually he's got a point..

Im also finding the Ads rather tiresome, especially between listings, and I also noticed how much interaction there used to be with Admin and the users which was one of the reasons I joined.

This seems to have vanished all together, with reported problems just left unreplied to.

As for going to another site..well Yes, I'm certainly not going to ditch the other place, especially as its become even more attractive for me than it was before, and this one has become less so as a consequence.

There are big changes coming up on the the other place soon,it will be interesting to see how that affects my sales but I can say without doubt they couldn't be worse than on here.

Yes I too find them a bit distracting, especially the one that slides up from the bottom of the screen over what I'm working on. But not nearly as annoying as my ads. on obay which are cut to pieces with line after line of mostly Sponsored ads. of (supposedly) similar items from other sellers which directly influence buyers to buy from someone else. I counted them on just one of my ads. and found 346 intruders on my ad..

I also think that the adverts here seem to have increased recently?

    Isn't that a good thing?

Doesn't it indicate that someone has been working to bring more revenue to the site which might be used for improvement or modernisation without calling for fee increases?

I do agree that some members have had problems that apparently Support hasn't fixed, particularly bad is the one where Notification of Sales have not been received which should have been resolved promptly, but again some sellers on most(?) other sites suffer from issues that are never solved and in some cases have been unsolved for years despite other site's revenue being in billions p.a and with numerous teams of I.T specialists. I wonder, apart from the owners, how many staff does Support actually have?

In my own defence, I didn't say anyone should go to another site, they have come here by choice but now don't seem to like it much. Neither am I against anyone trying to sell on more than one site at the same time, until recently I was doing exactly that. But what I find irksome is that someone who apparently only arrived a few days ago and has barely put a toe in the water is already telling us how outdated and neglected ebid is and what The Management should be doing to improve the site to their liking.

I'm merely saying that there are people who've been selling here for years, have put in the work to get their sales which can be verified by randomly looking at the Recently Sold strip on the HP, where sales are shown to be a never ending stream.

I for one would welcome some improvements, but not at the cost of turning this site into the sort if nightmare for small and part-time sellers that obay has become. Leading to them deserting that site in such numbers that the 'big changes' you mention are IMO mainly panic measures to try to get some of them back. Measures that, again IMO, will fail simply because it will still be the same nightmare underneath the big changes, probably with even more issues for small sellers once they are in place?

I guess you could look at that another way,I feel that the amount of adverts on sites tends to increase as income dries up from other sources which in this case may well be paid up members or sales by existing ones,I have no idea if thats the case though.

Ive also found that often its somebody new to any organisation who can see stuff others cant, although in the case of Ebid a look through the forums sees the same problems as the OP mentioned being discussed often and with no discernable outcome.

I think what a lot of sellers here probably feel most is frustration, because this place is, or could be, a real alternative to the other place.

I agree with you though, members on here who sell a lot have a merry band of followers and that takes time to build up.

On the other place a good 70 > 80% of my sales are from previous buyers.

I agree with your thoughts on the changes over there as well.

I think Vinted scared them,I just wish Vinted were a bit more known for collectables, its interesting to see Delcampe also following the Vinted buyer premium model so plainly there must be something good about it for them.

I reckon its the business sellers that the other place will have to worry about most, because for the life of me I can't see what incentive there is to be one there.

I have no idea if that's the case either but from time to time someone here will quote "Traffic Stats." (from google?), so these must be available to companies looking to pay for advertising. If I were in their position would I bother paying for space on a site that is such a mess and a failure as ebid is depicted as? I don't think I would.

At 8:30 I looked at the Recently Sold strip again and as always a snap-shot of 12 sales, this time from yesterday at around 16:00, stamps, postcards, battery, Quit Smoking Course sold in around 40 minutes. (For those interested RUS sales 9 items, Auction sales 3 items)

Building a following is always good if you can do it, I find that in my area of interest it can be hard as buyers are often interested in quite specific items. I hope that as you sell over there you're making your repeat buyers aware that you have moved here and perhaps even offered an 'introductory offer' on their first purchase (if such things are possible in your line of sales?)

Again I'm not sure of my facts or which sites I read about, but I have read that a couple of sites that started the Buyer Fees move have had second thoughts because of falling sales after they tried it. Makes me wonder if obay's plans to do the same will be curtailed or dropped altogether?

My thoughts on the ratio of business sellers to buyers / part-time non-business sellers is a subject for another thread, but I will say that IMO it's individuals buying and selling that make a site viable, businesses ride their coat tails, if there are enough of them, and make the site more profitable. Obay got that wrong and is paying the price as it's private sellers have deserted, leaving businesses without buyers, but that's another story.

All the best for the coming year, I hope you have plenty of sales.

When I connect to eBid using IE or Chrome I get a 'Manage Options' screen first ... its a bit annoying every time , but if I uncheck all the ad options my viewing is henceforth ad-free!
Can you not do that too? Here is the screenshot I get:

I rarely see the Cloudfare verification. Perhaps it's to do with the length of time I have been active on the site. And I use a VPN which might been Cloudflare more often
