    Default tempting.... or not?

    .

Is it time to post back to the PO all the junk mail they are paid to deliver to us - and put an end to it all going straight into the recycle bins for it all to become another profitable winner for the PO?

It's easy to do - just post it all in a postbox somewhere, anywhere.

I often take the junk mail "postage Free" envelopes and stuff them full of the Junk mail they sent me and any other flyers and junk mail that I have. I make sure the envelope is too fat to be sent as lettermail.

Delightful. I do that too when there is an envelope - but that is only getting back at the companies.

What I was meaning was the ones without envelopes, ie posting all the flyers (the ones the PO is paid to put through my letterbox) = posting them straight back into a letterbox to go back to the PO who is paid to deliver it all. I found about another 10 flyers inside my porch this morning. No envelopes, just printed flyers from different companies who pay the PO to deliver them. So the PO can now start sorting their own junk mail from the real post items.

I see the problem being the companies who pay the PO, not the mail system. The PO will mail what you ask them to mail. That's their job. But it's all the random companies that are casting a wide net in hopes of a fish that are the problem. I wonder if we wrote on them....RETURN TO SENDER....the PO would send back to the companies. PRobably not. It would go in the bin, I bet. They are legally required to deliver it, but are they legally required to return to sender if you don't want it??
    Ta-Ta for now!

Depending on what type of paper it's printed on, I either shred them and put in the compost bin or use in the bottom of the kitchen bin liner to catch any drips from the coffee pods

I've emailed a complaint and request..... in the meantime, the lot will go into a postbox until it is resolved.

Annie, I can't do my garden anymore so don't have compost bins, and I separate wet waste from dry so have no need of soak up material.

edit: I forgot to mention, the PO has an email addy for opting out - I obviously wrote to it as well but just got an automated email back telling me to download the PDF or phone..... grrrrr

I share your irritation about junk mail, but putting it in the postbox isn't the answer. Indeed, you become part of the problem. You don't really imagine that the guy who empties the postbox has any influence over this, do you?

Put a big label on your front door letterbox: NO JUNK MAIL, PLEASE. Of course it may not always be effective, but it can't do any harm. Have a word with your posties also, if you know them and they're regular. If they aren't regular, leave a box of All Bran out for them.
