Prince Harry's Wife Name?

This is probably an odd question but I've noticed that the media over here tends to use Prince Harry's wife's maiden name when writing about the couple and I got to wondering if there is some rule that that is how she is to be mentioned in the media. Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with royals, but I'm wondering if she actually took Prince Harry's last name as in Mrs. Windsor or doesn't it work like that with royals. What say y'all?

That sure is a mouthful, Becky. It's a bit long to put on a driver's license, but I don't figure that she actually needs one of those. I suppose the use of the Mrs would be too common for royalty.

Of course, I'm not really sure what Harry's actual surname is. Somehow, I got the impression that it was Windsor, but I'm not sure of that either. Does the royal family actually have a surname?

I suppose in today's world of hyphenated names and wives keeping their last upon marriage it seems a bit old fashioned for a woman to take her husbands name upon being married. Actually, I think the practice stems from the idea of ownership. Something that is not looked upon as it once was. Of course, the institution of marriage is, if I'm not mistaken, rooted in the desire to keep property in the family. Something of a business arrangement, I believe.

The Windsors were not always named so.
It was founded by King George V by royal proclamation on 17 July 1917, when he changed the name of the British Royal Family from the German Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the English Windsor, due to the anti-German sentiment in the British Empire during World War I.

Prince Harry's wife will never be known as Princess Meghan. She is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex or Princess Harry of Sussex.

We also have a Princess Michael of Kent who isn't known by her first name.

Prince Harry goes by the last name of 'Wales' as you will see if you look closely at his Army uniform.

There is always a bit of a tussle within the army over royal soldiers when they are junior.

When King Hussein of Jordan was a cadet at Sandhurst, he was officially "Mr King Hussein, Sir" (all cadets are called mr or miss), but the Non-commissioned officers reduced it to "Mr King"(I used to work with someone who trained with him).
