How do you weigh your items for postage?

Oh, and when I'm sending rather small parcels I've noticed the PO has trouble sticking the label on. So I've made a little guide out of some sheet acetate I had spare, with a rectangle cut out, the size of the PO label. Before writing the address I mark the parcel where the label will go, so I keep that area clear.

I use a flat metal kitchen scale that looks just like the small postal scales I have seen. Mine was £10 and is used as a kitchen scale as well

There's a kitchen scale on ebid for just under £10. Of course there's ones on ebay for half that price, but you have to wade through all the damn listings of 0.99 to whatever, multi-choice listings, that purport to be for scales, but in fact the 99p item is a 10g weight to suck you in to the cheapest listing. And they come from China... eventually.

But, as usual, it's strange and sad there aren't cheaper items on ebid.

If you don't win it, places like ALDI and LIDL often have them in for well under 10 GBP.

I think mine, from ALDI, were about 6 GBP and they are perfectly adequate for weighing all postal items from 1g up to 5Kg.

I must admit to not knowing what a LL box is. Perhaps it is something particular to the UK postal system.

I have four postage scales. Two are battery operated and one requires that it be plugged in to an outlet. that is the one I purchased from USPS. If memory serves,it cost about $40 and the others were about the same or a little less. The fourth one is a mechanical that goes up to 50 lbs, but it isn't graduated in metric. Alas! I don't remember what I paid for it. I got it from Staples, I believe.

With regard to obtaining the dimensions, I use a regular tape such as used by tailors for fitting garments.
