I have a parcel worth over £78 to send to the USA.
What is the best way to send it as I know my buyer will be using Paypal so will need a tracking number.

Generally I always go for "Signed For" when its a choice between "Tracked" and "Signed For". This is on the basis that if you have a signature the recipient cannot deny having the item - this is quite important when delivering to business addresses where items can go astray within the organistaion. However, for the USA its easy as it can be sent "Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed" - so you get both. I am assuming here that it is not too large or heavy. If you go to the Royal Mail price finder ( http://www.royalmail.com/business/price-finder ) you can work out the cost.
Thank you for that - just taken a look at the Royal Mail website and I gather that Tracked & Signed For is a relatively new service.
It's a small parcel weight wise, so postage won't be excessive.
Not impressed with Royal Mail's International Tracked & Signed For service.
No trace of the parcel I sent on Wednesday 1 March to the US on the RM website Track & Trace system.
If you go onto US USPS mail site and enter tracking number it will show more info, plus you can request email updates from them as it moves across the country.
It should show that item boarded from Heathrow the evening of posting and will then have some sort of vague message that really means it's sitting in Customs before entering the system for delivery. RM always seems to show little progress until it is actually delivered.
Hope this helps.
1 March - sent parcel by Royal Mail Tracked/Signed For Airmail service to Arizona, USA
3 March - parcel reached LA
14 March - parcel delivered and signed for.
11 days to reach Arizona from LA? Was beginning to panic as there had been no updates on USPS tracking page.
Packages that get stuck in New York, LA or San Francisco are at the facilities that do customs clearance. For most mail, this takes a few days before it gets back on its way to the customer. It is the same for packages to many other nations. Some private shipping services (FedEx, UPS, DHL) do their own customs clearance on express parcels, if the customer needs get through customs quickly - though at a fairly steep cost.
Packages from the EU have been going through customs in the UK, which was fairly efficient. I haven't heard whether Brexit will change how mail to the EU is inspected and sorted. Anyone know?
