So if I understand Gazza's announcement correctly, the templates used by many sellers will be useless once the new site goes live. All HTML coding will be stripped from any active listings and I'm assuming stores when this takes place. Interesting! Does that mean that store logos will have to be redesigned?

Have any of you sellers of templates been given a heads up about compatible template designs or are we suddenly going to have to scramble to find something compatible with a radically redesigned eBid?

I'd been working on spiffing up my stores in anticipation of reopening them this June. Perhaps I need to rethink that and wait to see the new site. No real sense in working on templates that are going to be non-functional in a few weeks anyway. Gazza did mention that the new site will be going sometime in June. I hope that it won't take longer than the month of July to get things worked out so that they'll be compatible with the new site.

I don't think Gazza means Listing templates will be stripped of HTML as he says 'Listing Notices' in his post. Which I would take to refer to the 'Holiday Notice' at top of listing page.

Toooooo many people use Listing templates ..........................

I know that the ones I have uses the code that he said is obsolete. Since I'm not a trained programmer I doubt I wish to tackle the job of trying to rewrite the templates. Frankly, much more info is needed for any type of rational decision on the issue. Hopefully those of us not adept at writing code will not be faced with purchasing new templates or living with plain text listings.

Not all the html code is obsolete in listing templates only the background color code, so you would need to find the following html code in your listing template bgcolor="#cccccc" and change it to style="background-color:#cccccc;"
use the color code # already in your template instead of the #cccccc

Most of my 287 listing templates have the 'bgcolor'
As far as I can work out the easiest way to change them (one at a time) is
    Click 'Source'
    Then 'F3' (Find) on keyboard
    Insert 'bgcolor' in find box
    Then click 'Highlight All'
Then Copy coding from Gazza's post and Paste over the bgcolor

Does anyone know of an easier way than that?

I'll happily take a look at your template if you want to send me a copy via: http://mootango.webspace.virginmedia...ile_upload.htm (include a return email address in the description field).

As you observe though, we really need to see the new site to discover any unexpected issues that may arise. It wouldn't be the first time (sadly not even the second time) that eBid has trashed users' listings.

Thanks for the offer, Mel. I think I need to wait a bit to see what the new design looks like before deciding whether to use the ones I have or totally change the look to fit the new site's mood.

Alas! I've got quite a few items that I've prepared for listing and saved the HTML code on my system so they would be ready to go. I sort of wish I became aware of the upcoming redesign of the site a tad bit sooner. Precisely how radical the changes to the site is the X factor right now.
