I don't know how active it is.

I noticed in that group there's 34 sellers. So perhaps that's a rough estimate of how many sellers there are on ebid total from the USA. As for Buyers I'm not certain I just hope there's a larger pool of potential buyers. Ebid has 8 Million unique Visitors compared to eBays 62 Million. That's closer than I would have thought.

I think there are a fair number of North American sellers on here, it's the buyers I wonder about sometimes...

You can't possibly make that assumption correctly. Not all users use the forums. Even less use the groups. Even less than that use that specific group.

The majority that do use the forums don't care where anyone is from; handing in their passports at sign in and assume the nationality of eBidder under the one flag.

Except Moo, left, who is flying the English flag in response to all the tartans that have appeared recently.

The American Sellers Group, like many of the other groups are not really active. Well they were not active the last time I looked. They used to be more active long ago. The 34 sellers there only reflects a tip of the iceberg of American sellers; those were the ones who chose to be involved with the group.

I believe there may be more American sellers than buyers here, but no real data is available to confirm this. Just as only a small percentage of sellers chose to be involved with the Sellers Group; apparently only a small percentage of potential buyers choose to actually buy. Many potential buyers browse but will not buy.

So the real issue becomes how does one convert browsers to buyers. Offering rock bottom prices, the promise of good service, or the provision of good service, does not seem to be enough to move many browsers to buyers. So you are left with the few buyers who are willing to step out, take the risk, and actually bid/buy here. The risk is not any greater here, and probably is less, but buyer perception may play a part. This is improving slowly but surely over the years that I have been here.

I can not prove this, but I believe that buyer behavior will differ on eBid and eBay, across the same buyers. Possibly the greater number of sellers here that seem unable to get sales, may also be unwilling to buy here. So they may just watch (browse) but not bid, even at give away prices.

Hard to get a handle on stats here. Of the 8 million unique visitors, how many are sellers, buyers, seller/buyers, browsers, etc. Seems to be more sellers than buyers; even if not more potential buyer (browsers) than sellers. If only considering a fraction of the views a listing receives, one might suspect that their are enough eyes on an item that an adequate bid level/buy could occur. In the end, it boils down to choice of the potential buyer to actually buy.
