    Default 2 Queries

If I repurpose material (eg my tweed bag which used to be a mans waistcoat, or vinyl Lp's into clocks) and make it into something else, do I list it as New or Used?

Secondly to sellers who sell abroad. How do you work out the postage costs for your items? Do you weigh and measure every item with packaging, or do you weigh the item and take a guess at the packaging? I would like to offer more of my items internationally but dread having to weigh and measure over 4000 items.

Please have a look. I combine postage wherever possible.

If the repurposed item is something different from what it was then it is new though you need lots of good keywords "upscaled" is the latest.

I do a sort of guess - though with many items it is obvious - cards are all going to be going for the 100g minimum small packet rate.

    I would say used.

I weigh everything with packaging and keep a card index of all items listed with weight and postal cost - helps a lot when stuff sells I also try and store items in their packaging so I'm not hunting round for suitable boxes/jiffy bags when the time comes. [Explains why my 'office' is stuffed to the gills !]

If you have a lot of similar items, e.g. your cards, then you shouldnt have to weigh every single one - take an average as the new RM rates are a lot easier to work with than before.

I, too, would call it new and I would add the word Upcycled (which is what I think Madelaine mean't.)

I would use New if you are changing the item (ex. Album to a clock).
But when it's clothing with additional trims, I would Used.
*** Upcycling would be the best description.

Even know I don't sell over seas, the majority of my items is already packed and packaged. The box is measured and weighed and then place on the shelf with labels of what's in them. Doesn't take much when an item sells. Just pull it off the shelf, insert packing slip, add the shipping label, seal it and out the door she goes.

i would say its used your reusing materials that were not made for the item you have manufactured , if upcycled does mean what ive written then i would make it clear in the description exactly whats been done, its not a common usage word yet.

posting abroad, weight is the key, each item weighed in its posting box and materials, once you have the weight you can use the postage companies web site for prices to countries, and get the upgrades, ie 5 day delivery or 2 day, so you can give the buyer a choice, or you can restrict to only one postage option which makes things easier for you, once weighed dont seal the box ready for posting because you can bet that will be the one were the buyer wants a combined package.

I would use new from the drop down box, put upcycled in the title and certainly explain a bit more in the description.

    What Meebo said.

Re: shipping, I ship overseas. It's easy for me, as I use USPS Priority Mail which has flat rates for the small boxes to different countries (same price for as many items as fit in the box). Europe and the UK are all the same rate; it's slightly lower for Canada and Mexico, so I just refund the difference to Canadian buyers and Mexican buyers, (OK, I haven't had a Mexican buyer yet, but I remain hopeful).

Best wishes for many sales to all,
