So it's possible that the current Ebola outbreak is going to do more than just spread through Africa. Whereas before most people could watch a brief news report and move on, now it looks like this thing might be coming to our own doorsteps.
Both the UK and US governments have implemented some basic screening at a limited number of airports. However the chances of finding travelers who are infected with Ebola is pretty small. The period before travelers show any symptoms of infection - and in turn become infectious themselves - can be up to 21 days, so someone could easily pass through the airport screening and not even know they were sick.
Boris Jonson, the Mayor of London, has stated that he expects to see at least one case of Ebola in London before Christmas.
