Default Why would somebody want to kill 40+ innocent dogs?

Just what was in the mind of the youth that did this?..

Some interesting and diverse comments below the article.

Just look at the fear in this dog's eyes. Un-be-lievable

Look at how people have reacted with donations already..

BBC are now quoting over 60 deaths with more expected.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain.

I saw it on the television this morning but turned to another channel instantly. I cant read or see anything about it, its just too distressing.

I wouldn't have any problem with seeing the culprit in agony and fear though.

Not a pet lover myself, love animals but prefer the wild variety, but even to me this is pretty sick. A 14 year old boy has been arrested. This was on our local news and one thing it does show is a great aspect of human nature, hundreds of people went there to help, some of them even going into the burning building to rescue dogs, others comforted them outside. There has also been £225,000 raised for the home in just 12 hours.

Stories like this actually make me despair about society as a whole.

The facts as we know them are: There was a fire. Dogs died. A boy was arrested on suspicion of arson.

The other facts about the story that we know are: The fire service are investigating. They don't yet know how the fire started. They don't yet know where the fire started.

But already on the comments on the newspaper and in this very thread folk are already talking about stringing people up, seeing them in agony and talking about eye for an eye.

Now it may turn out that the fire was started deliberately, and it may turn out that whoever it was knew exactly what he was doing. But until that happens folk passing comment about pure evil, or vilifying his parents, or bringing back the death sentence for him really should have a long hard look at themselves first.

Agree absolutely with your post PetBazaar.

We pride ourselves on being a civilised society; there is nothing civilised about these scenes.

If it was deliberate how would you deal with the boy?

It is for the courts to deal with the boy.

That's as maybe. I was asked how I would deal with the boy.

If guilty, we would all hope he gets his just desserts.
